we woke up every 2.5 hours to feed until she reached birth weight, then we let her sleep until she woke up naturally, which was usually around 3 hours. We had to strip her down to her diaper and do all kinds of tricks to get her to stay awake during feedings. It did get better at her due date.
I think DD was a very sleepy newborn overall but I had nothing to compare her to. She did have to be waked a lot to feed and it took a month for her to get back to her birth weight so I was up a lot with her at night - I think otherwise she would have just slept. She never fell asleep during feedings but she didn't ever feed for long and still today, when it comes to formula, she isn't a big feeder. She does love solids though.
I loved that she slept a lot and am praying #2 is the same since I will have DD and #2 on my hands all at once, lol! I am hoping to be able to entertain DD will #2 sleeps in the swing or vibrating chair.
A was super sleepy. He is just starting to be awake more at 5 weeks. I woke him every 2-3 hours to eat. When he reached his birth weight at 8 days I let him sleep at night and he only woke every 5-7 hours. I just made sure we got 8-10 feedings a day in. Now that he is almost 6 weeks he is waking on his own to eat, although he still sleeps most of the time.
