Since we've been married, we've had 3 cars -My commuter car (currently a Honda Fit) -His commuter car (currently a 1995 Honda Civic) -Our travel/hobby car (currently a Honda Ridgeline), mostly for bad weather and his hobby that requires lots of heavy crap
For the last month the ancient car has been sitting in the driveway unused. DH takes the truck to work every day, and if the weather is decent has taken the Fit instead. And I'm now working from home, so a car isn't a necessity most days. I've approached DH about getting rid of the ancient car, and he's resisting. He regularly gets offers from people for it when he takes it into the shop, and I'm tired of parking around it. Any ideas on how to get him to think this is an amazing idea? LOL

How much would you save in insurance if you dropped it from your policy? I would want to know that number, in case the question comes up. (I know it's probably not that much, but still).
I know Hondas are really reliable, but what about the potential cost for significant repairs or difficulty selling as soon as something big goes wrong? Tie that into letting him used the proceeds on his hobby - both $ earned and costs avoided.
Or, if he's like my H does he just not want to deal with the hassle of selling? Offer to help with that?
See I'd probably keep it because it would be worth more to ME than I could get for it. A reliable older car that doesn't require a ton of gas? That will likely come in handy during the Apocolypse. My parents kept their 1980 Honda Civic until 2009 or so just for times that they needed an extra car. They should have kept it longer as it may have worked after an EMP. Can you wait and see if you're moving before pressing the issue?

Not moving. It would be a bad Apocalypse car unless we leave DD behind. I'm going to try the hobby angle
Definitely work the hobby angle! Mine was just telling me how much his new gauntlets would cost. This was while we renegotiated his fun money per check, haha.

We had a three car problem a couple of years ago (Him -- Toyota Corolla, Me -- Ford Taurus, and other -- Dodge Dakota) and we solved it by getting rid of the Taurus and Dakota and replacing it with a minivan. Not saying you need a minivan, but maybe a two-for-one change would fit your family's overall needs better? For us, the sticking point with getting rid of the "extra" truck is that we have a small trailer we occasionally tow, and the minivan can handle that (as well a haul stuff with the seats folded down).
