DS was hospitalized twice. The first time was an allergic reaction to Motrin, but by the next morning he developed really strange hives all over. No explanation, but after rounds of Zyrtec and steroids we were sent home. Two months later he broke out in the strange hives again and his feet swelled something fierce. Again, three days in the hospital and same meds. We were sent home. He breaks out in hives now(well-before he was put on Xyzol every day). No explanation. We have been to an allergist and dermatologist.
I am so sorry you are going through this! It is frustrating for the docs to say they have no idea what is wrong, and some argue in front of you on a diagnosis. At one point, we were watching and treating him for HSP. Two doctors agreed with the diagnosis, two did not.
I have never posted before but I created an account because I had HSP as a child and her symptoms had me immediately thinking about it. Has your doctor tested her for that? Sounds very similar. Rash and my joints hurt so bad I didn't/couldn't walk. It was a fairly easy fix after they finally diagnosed me. It took months though so I wanted to say something in case it could help her not go through the months of pain I did. Anyways, best of luck and I hope they figure it out soon. Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP) is the official name
faith194 did anyone ever mention salicylate sensitivity to you? Just wondering because my DS had an allergic reaction to Ibuprofen and breaks out randomly. His reaction is hives deep under the skin- Angioedema.
His primary triggers are Ibuprofen and pineapple but eggs too much apple juice can cause a flare up.

Hugs!
I have not heard of that before. The allergic reaction to Motrin came up like three months after his original hospital visit when talking to his allergist(His upper lip swelled up a lot and the doc said he was anaphylactic at the ER- we could not tell. The sweeping didn't go down, so we were admitted and stayed three days). I am going to look into it!
