Go you! I feel like I almost made thethe news. The bar my DH works at is staying open tonight and he is working
Seriously? I will be thinking of him.Â
Yes, it is on campus and the owner said since he got ONE hotel room for all the employees there is no reason to close. DH is not going to be staying there.

OMG. The news just urged people not to call 911 if they lose power.
I have never called 911 when I lose power. I call the electric company to hear the automated message on how long it will be out.
My bff is a police dispatcher and you would be shocked how many people call 911 for power outages. The last major windstorm we had knocked out power to like 50k people and she said the phones lit up.
What place got the 6 feet of snow back in Oct/Nov? Are they also getting hammered with this stuff? If so, I feel so sorry for them. Too much damn snow.

That was Buffalo and a majority of that snow was lake-effect snow from the Great Lakes. Different system over here and they're a-ok this time!
I'm so anxious about it. DH is a cop and has to go to work tomorrow no matter what.
good luck to him. When I was working in the hospital, we were considered essential staff, and expected to show, no matter what. But there were times when people literally were unable to make it to work because of the snow/ice, and it's not like you can just walk off the floor and leave your patients, so you stay. One time they actually closed a floor and opened it up to employees who had to stay at work, to go sleep for a few hours and grab a quick shower and fresh scrubs. (not to make this about me, but the same expectations I'm sure apply to police officers etc who are on shift for these types of things)
I always think of essential employees (police, fire, EMS, medical, hospital support staff etc) when I hear about these storms, because while everyone else gets to stay home, they don't get a choice, and have to go in.
