1. How far along are you? 2. Treatment plan? 3. What has been going well? 4. What hasn't been going so well? 5. Any other GD related vents/tips/randoms/etc?
1. 30 weeks today! I'm so excited. 2. Glyburide and diet 3. The baby's not too big and seems to be doing great. Pricking my finger is just part of my routine now and not the misery it was in my first two weeks. 4. Even with meds and diet, some of my numbers are STILL not perfect. I am hoping this doesn't lead to a really early delivery. (None are BAD, but it worries me that things aren't working right.) 5. I ate a very low-carb lunch so I could have a McDonald's vanilla cone with it. It was heavenly (and my numbers after that meal were really good!).
2. Treatment plan? Still just testing 4x a day, diet and exercise
3. What has been going well? Numbers have still been great minus a couple, but they were high because of what I ate or because I wasn't very active. Doctors are happy with everything! I had a NST yesterday and everything was great. Apparently I had a contraction during the test, but I didn't feel it at all, haha. It's hard to tell sometimes!
4. What hasn't been going so well? I did "cheat" a couple times this week. After I did my lunch test, I had ice cream one day and pie another. Damn work and their tempting sweets! My fasting number also was starting to creep up (still within range, just higher than usual) but today it was lower again, so I'm not worried anymore!
5. Any other GD related vents/tips/randoms/etc? Protein, protein, protein. Seriously can't say it enough! It's what's keeping me full but also keeping my blood sugar down. Chicken wraps are my best friend! I've also been having cottage cheese as a side for meals because it's less carbs and more protein than my usual side dishes (rice, veggies, potatoes, etc). And unsweetened soy milk has been a life saver considering how much milk I had been drinking!

krystee Does your doctor like to estimate baby's size? For the last few appointments mine has been guessing around 7 pounds which is fine with me! Good to know I might have some wiggle room with his weight, haha.
I called my numbers in last night and the nutritionist just left me a message and said I'm a "model patient" because of how good my numbers have been. I'm really happy with how well I've been doing other than the few cheats of course. I wish it was that "easy" for everyone though!
estrellita I get super detailed measurement ultrasounds at the MFM every two weeks. They are like full anatomy scans where they measure every last body part. They can tell within a few ounces that he is 3 pounds 13 ounces and in the 77th percentile (they don't worry about size due to GD until they're in the 90th percentile, according to the doctor).

1. 32w2d 2. Test 4x a day, diet, exercise 3. Largely, my numbers are good. It's a PITA to manage all of this while exhausted. DH is out of town this week, so I've had to do the shopping and cooking, which is hard on me. I'm glad he'll be back soon! 4. My fasting numbers have been a bit higher for a few days; not sure why that is. Maybe on nights I don't sleep well? Could that affect it? Also, I tried having some pizza (even though I had only two small pieces and a big salad); total fail. 5. It's fascinating to see what we do to ourselves when we eat whatever we want. Granted, I don't have diabetes normally, so hopefully my body manages it better. But I'm glad to have some insight into the chemistry.
Have you guys noticed any issues if you go too long without eating? I find that I am a *mess* if I don't snack or eat regularly.

centralsquare I personally haven't noticed a huge difference if I skip a snack, but it makes sense that your numbers might be higher if you do. Eating on a regular schedule helps your blood sugar go up and down throughout the day to regulate it.
krystee that's so frustrating! I wonder what is causing that difference. I know sometimes I think I'm having a good meal but forget to calculate carbs in sauces (BBQ was bad!) and end up with a higher number than I'd expect. Then I eat fast food and it's fine, haha. I wonder if you have a certain trigger food that spikes your blood sugar even when you're following the "rules". For me it's potatoes
