Thinking of you and hoping they can keep the little one in there for a few more weeks.
If your baby needs to come out sooner, I hope you get a little comfort in knowing that 31 weekers do really really well.
My 2.5 year old twins were born at 33 weeks and spend over a month in the NICU. You would never know that they were barely 3 pounds at birth or that they were preemies.
Fingers crossed your baby stays in! My twins were born at 29 weeks. Before I delivered, my neonatologist told me after 28 weeks babies do really well and do even better once you get into the 30 weeks. My guys did and are doing awesome.
FWIW, I recently had a NICU patient in the exact same scenario. Mom's water broke at 31 weeks and she finally delivered at 34. With the help of the steroids, that kid came out 6.5 lbs and acting like he was practically term. I hope your munchkin comes out kicking ass like that baby did!

I am so sorry. I know how scary it is to worry about your baby coming early. The good news is 31 weeks is a big milestone in terms of the baby's health. The steroids will really help too. I hope that the meds are able to help hold off delivery for a while and your little one can keep growing inside for a bit. Big hugs to you. Hang in there.
Praying for you and your little one! I'm glad you and baby are both doing well and that you're in good hands in the hospital. Hope you can relax a little tonight and convince the baby to stay put for a few more weeks!
Thinking of you! A coworker's water broke a 28 weeks last spring, and while they had a long NICU stay, her daughter is a happy and healthy 10 month old now.

You guys are amazing. Thank you so much for the support and success stories.
Baby and I are doing good. We met the NICU doctor today and she talked to us about what to expect if baby was born at this point and what their plan is. I feel confident in them.
I've talked to my principal and team at school. They've got a long term sub lined up. Luckily I also co-teach with an inclusion specialist and she is prepared to help "explain" how my class works.
So I'm a little bit less of a basketcase today. It's not how I imagined things going but (if I'm honest with myself) nothing on this "Journey to become parents" has been.
