I didn't know what these are until about 2 months ago when I overheard a mom explaining it to another mom at the library. I had to look it up when I got home because well sounded crazy/shady. I am not convinced they are necessary. Motrin was very effective with the teething for us

I'm the only person I know who doesn't use one. In fact I just sold mine on FB about 10 minutes ago. Some of my friends swear that it cuts down on the drooling. I felt uncomfortable in case it broke and she choked on a bead.

Around 8 months DD was a mess from teething and was up 5-6 times each night. Even with giving her as much Motrin as we could, nothing was helping. I had no issues shelling out $20 to try and get a decent night of sleep. Turns out a have a crappy sleeper AND a crappy teether and the amber necklace didn't do anything (unsurprisingly).

Or doesn't break and strangles them.
I know you're supposed to watch them while they have it on, but come on. If it were that easy, nobody would baby proof. Tylenol/Advil might be "invasive," but at least it's safe and effective.
Everyone I know puts them on the ankle and lets their babies sleep with them. I am way too nervous for that. I do have a "mom friend" who is home schooling and doing EC so take that for you will.
I love it! I swear it cuts down on the drool. Each bead is individually tied so if it broke they wouldn't all come loose. All the kids in DS's music class wear them and we all think it works. I still give pain meds if needed, I tuck it under his shirt so he can't chew on it, and I take it off at night.
SIL uses them on her two boys. They wear them 24/7. She claims they work and do wonders. She even bought one for DD when she was born. I've never put it on DD.
FWIW- DD never drooled, even without the necklaces. She was also like the easiest teething baby ever. I usually didn't know she was getting new teeth until they were popped through the gums and sticking up. On the flip side my one nephew who is 11 months drools all the time and wear the necklace 24/7. Clearly I'm not sold on them.

DD wears one. She has never been a big drooler, so I can't speak to that. I don't know if it helps, I pretend it does. I also give her tylenol if she's super fussy. I will say, that she's been wearing it for about a week, and she is much more tolerable than the previous week. That m'fing molar still hasn't cut, so it's not like she just magically stopped teething. She doesn't sleep at night in it - she does nap in it. She doesn't mess with it, at all, so I'm not particularly worried about it breaking. I have a friend that swears by them. I bought it for $10, if it doesn't help, oh well.
I don't use them, though I've seen them around here a lot. DD usually isn't too cranky about teething, though she drools a lot when she's teething (aka, now!), so, if I believed some of you, I probably ought to try them. I just don't see how a necklace could make a different in the drool though. I can also see the safety hazard issue.
As a mom to a baby, I know nothing about amber teething necklaces and probably won't use one on M. But when I had heard of them before, I totally assumed it was a chunky beaded necklace that the mom wore and the baby could gnaw on while she held him. LOL
