I've always bought real textbooks in the past. Now, though, I've been thinking about getting a tablet with my bonus money, and I suddenly realized that with the bigger screen I might want to consider trying to save some money through digital textbooks in the future. I have a kindle, but the screen is too small for textbook reading so I've never bothered with it, but textbooks are so expensive!

I've always bought the hard copy because reading on screens makes me sick.
I also like being able to highlight, write, use sticky notes, etc if I want, which I know you can also do on screen but I'm old and to me it's not the same
One of the books my students use is given to them for free as an ebook. Some of then don't like that and go out and buy the book. So basically it's just personal preference.
HoneySpider - Yeah, one of the reasons I'm considering it is because I've found that I don't really highlight, flag, or write in my textbooks. When I spend that much money, I want to be able to sell them for as much money as possible once the class is over! Haha. And I find myself balancing my laptop and my textbooks in really uncomfortable ways because I don't have an actual work desk at home.
That's a good idea about finding one that is free, comes with the regular book, or maybe has a trial version to test out before I commit.
I feel like an old because this was never an option for me. I did, however, have classes where some of the reading was posted online in PDF form. I much prefer reading from an actual book than on a computer screen. I'm not sure if it's different/better on a tablet? I ended up usually just skimming the online articles. Some people prefer reading on a screen, though.
