I am just tired of being lectured and told if we were just good little Negras all of our problems would go away. Fuck that and if you think that way you need to brush up on your WORLD history.
But it would seem to me that if an officer gave you a lawful order, put the gun down or get out of the street, you would most likely comply. I would think. So if one refuses to put a gun down (toy or not) why should the officer have to wait to get shot to figure out if its real. The person should put IT down.
Tamar Rice was not unarmed. He was armed with a BB gun that looked just like a semi automatic pistol.
My only issue is that its not JUST Black lives that matter. Its ALL of them. Black persons are not the only ones experiencing racism. Hell, women are still being discriminated against as well. To proclaim that only one race is above all else, is what I have a problem with. It does not address the issues that face all of the minorities.
1. Tamir was given exactly 2 seconds to comply before being shot dead by poor police work involving officers not assessing the situation but rolling into close range immediately, putting themselves in danger, and firing immediately. This is entirely supported by the very clear video.
2. John Crawford III was given exactly 0 seconds to comply, as he never heard the direct order since he was on his phone, by poor police work who similarly did not assess the situation. This is also entirely supported by the very clear video.
3. Eric Garner may have ultimately complied. We will never know because he was strangled to death despite his pleas for air.
4. London Colvin had every right to not answer questions about an incident in which she was not involved nor suspected. And yet her leg was partially mauled by a K9 deployed while she was unlawfully restrained.
5. We all agree that all lives matter. But we are talking specifically about black ones at the moment. It doesn't take away anything from other lives' value by talking about a specific population and the problems faced by that community. There should be no outrage: it is not either black lives OR all lives. This is a false dichotomy.
6. We were all horrified, disgusted, and enraged by the targeted murder of those police officers in NYC last month. Why can't you be similarly horrified, disgusted, and enraged by the targeted attacks and poor police work mentioned above?
And LOL that Tamir Rice didn't comply with the officer's demands. Like they gave him time to do anything!
it's his fault he's dead you know, his 12-year-old fault that he's dead. Never the cops.
Look, we have already established that black folks need to have freedom papers on all times. Just because it's 2015, that don't mean shit. It's still 1859.
As for BlueBayou's simple ass. I was going to say something, but MrsBpo already held that shit down, so it's snarky gif time.
I don't know WHY folks keep us coming up in threads like this here ...

Can someone please make up a rule book? As a white lady, I need to *know* what I should expect of anyone tainted with the faintest hint of melanin... so far we have:
1. Blah people should dress in khakis and carry nothing on their person other than, say, Starbucks -- preferably while not being male, and if female only with relaxed hair so that I can see at the opera 2. Brown people with that "Arab" look should carry a flag of Israel, drape themselves in a flag and proclaim their loyalty to the US and A whilst simultaneously denouncing terrorists all the time 3. Brown people with that "illegal" look should carry passports and framed photos of Geraldo Rivera on their persons at all times

Wow. So attempting to have a conversation is out aparently. all you want to do is attack me personally, as if you fucking know me, instead of a civil conversation/debate. If you can't handle a different viewpoint and have to insult someone you have alot more problems than your own lack of intelligence. I wouldn't discount anyone's experiences or beliefs simply because they didn't agree with mine. I was open to other viewpoints and didn't insult any of you. Clearly you guys can't even handle that. Go ahead little girls keep bashing me. It didn't do a damn thing to help your point. No wonder this divide exists. Because of things like this being personal instead of being able to have a civil discussion and educate each other. You really think you can help change the world/viewpoints by attempting to insult people? Tell me where I insulted any of you to deserve that ridiculous bullshit. The only ones who need lives are the those who can't handle a different viewpoint than theirs and have to attack persons who aren't on their bandwagon. Good luck on your bullshit cause that won't get heard due to immature ones who must attack without cause. All you all did was help prove ignorance is here to stay. Thank you all for the lesson and why I will continue not to support it. I actually thought there were some good points made until you marred it with the bullshit. Well done.
You're being unfairly prosecuted because of what you have briefly presented to us? Shmaybe you be stop and reflect on this and how this feels.

What a shame. This is not a race issue. This is a compliance of the law issue. At least two of those "victims" were defying the law and refusing to comply. Where and when do Blue Lives Matter ? Why is it police's fault that people refuse to comply with the law?
UNARMED does NOT make them innocent or non-dangerous! Being unarmed can be just as dangerous. Let's take a six foot five male and a five foot one. Tell me how the shorter one should fight to live? This is a race bait that those who believe this crap jump right into.
I won't be supporting this one bit. But I do support their right to believe or speak their beliefs.
Which part of the above demonstrates being open to hearing other viewpoints?
its cute, BlueBayou that you think you have shit to teach us.
thanks for putting out words I never said. i never said I needed to teach anyone anything. Mutual learning is something I strive for in any CIVIL convo. My mistake was thinking this group was mature adults who could do that. My only mistake. Lesson learned about this group. Thank You all.
So busting in here after we've had thread upon thread about race issues to simply declare that this is not a race issue; putting "victims" in quotes, which all but says these black men who were killed had it coming; and (wrongly) claiming that people are saying one (black) race matters above all other is your idea of a CIVIL conversation?
Shocker that you didn't get a ticker tape parade from the welcoming committee.

You didn't come in here with a "different viewpoint" or to have a conversation. You came in here spouting some ignorant bullshit. And you got called out on it.

I think it was the part where the phrases "race bait" and "crap" were used? And questioning us if we thought police lives ever matter. I know I felt enriched by those comments.
Wait, what cop exactly was nearly two feet shorter than the victim he shot? I mean there have been an awful lot of shootings of black folks lately so I'm clearly a bit confused.
Unless you're talking about how short 12 year old Tamir Rice was.

Saying #Blacklivesmattter =/= #allotherlivesDON'Tmatter. It's saying "We need to focus on Black lives now." (due to many, many factors including the recent police shootings/killings of black men that have turned out to be made from rash decisions based on deep seated beliefs about race.
You--have indicated here that you have missed this point and need some education. The board is trying to help you out. Seriously, it's okay to listen.
Or don't but...maybe it's just because the week I've had where I've seen some similar situations happening, if you don't want to listen...get out of here and stop wasting our time. Or..sit down and enjoy the gifs b/c they are coming.
Say what now? So say I, a white woman... I don't know, speed and get pulled over. And refuse a breathalyzer. I should be executed? Or, say I shoplift a bracelet and am confronted by a police officer at a store entrance - and I run. I should be shot down? If I am walking around walmart with a toy gun while gabbing on a cell phone - do you think the police would be called? If they were and pointed a gun at me do you think I'd even register that they thought I was threatening anyone? After all I was walking around minding my own business doing... nothing.
Though to be fair I'm not bigger than a police officer as you mentioned. But then again neither was Tamir Rice who was 12 when cops killed him. He was also unarmed. And not a criminal. But he was black.
Yep, not about race at all. Sure thing.
And finally, without sarcasm - you know it's possible to feel confidence in the majority of law enforcement, while still recognizing that racial profiling is a real and damaging thing, right? You can respect and admire law enforcement and still recognize that there are individual members who racially profile, or practices that are counterproductive, divisive and hurtful to communities? It is not an all or nothing proposition. Pointing out that racism exists does not mean that all LEOs are racists.
Those examples of speeding/refusing a breathalyzer are not comparable. The examples you gave are not ones of active fighting or resisting police. Of course you would not deserve to be executed. Is there a case where someone was? I am not aware of one. The ones I am aware of involve persons who are actively fighting/resisting or have weapons or objects that are similar to weapons. But it would seem to me that if an officer gave you a lawful order, put the gun down or get out of the street, you would most likely comply. I would think. So if one refuses to put a gun down (toy or not) why should the officer have to wait to get shot to figure out if its real. The person should put IT down.

I would hope it would be possible to still feel confident in law enforcement while believing racism profiling exists in some places. So how do you go about your contact with law enforcement when you feel that way? And I absolutely believe the practice is harmful. My only issue is that its not JUST Black lives that matter. Its ALL of them. Black persons are not the only ones experiencing racism. Hell, women are still being discriminated against as well. To proclaim that only one race is above all else, is what I have a problem with. It does not address the issues that face all of the minorities.
Look. Did you watch the Rice video? I do not see how ANYONE can watch that and say the cops didn't f up big time.
