Well. I was almost completely closed so the are doing a foley bulb dilation which takes 24 hours or so.
I had some contractions last night that went away when I slept. So they just fed me breakfast and now waiting on the doc to see if I've made any progress.
It's going to be a long long day. Stay tuned! I will post when I can.

You got to eat!!?? Jealous. They offered me nothing but popsicles the whole 36 or so hours I was in for my induction. fingers crossed for a cooperative cervix!

Just during the bulb. That's done now actually I got to 4cm. Pitocin now.

WTF? This is the kinda thing that pushes me into the don'd drink the Kool-Aid camp.

It's because I was already 2 cm. So they just jumped right to Pitocin - which means IVs and monitors and no food. It's all in case the pit causes fetal distress and they have to rush you into a C-section. Some hospitals are more strict with it than others. Mine is kinda middle of the road, and at least had me on all wireless/battery stuff so I could still get up and walk around as much as I wanted.
But I was SO DAMN HUNGRY.
And then I actually started to make progress, hit transition and puked up all my popsicles. So...yeah. That sucked too.
I'm not helping here am I? Labor kinda sucks. That's just how it is. Mine was longer and arguably more annoying than average because it was an induction. Most people get to labor at home for that first 5 cm or so (I think?) when they aren't in serious pain and can do things like walk around in real clothes without dragging monitors and IV's and eat whatever suits their fancy.
In the grand scheme of sucky labors though - mine was fine. just long. Otherwise pretty smooth and cute healthy baby at the end, so all's well that ends well is my motto.

Nope, not at all.
I get pretty cranky if I don't get lunch. I can't imagine what I would be like after 36 hours and trying to evict a living creature from my body. Anyone want to be a surrogate?

It's supposed to be a precaution just in case you end up needing emergency surgery. At this point, the guidelines are shifting in favor of letting mothers eat while laboring (which just makes freaking sense, it's worse than back-to-back marathons), so it's all very doctor/hospital dependent. I wasn't allowed anything with my first in 2008, the OB I delivered with in 2013 was a lot more lenient.
ETA: I was not induced with my first, but I was with my second.

wawa summed it up nicely
This actually makes me feel a lot better and it is good to know that some doctors are now more lenient.
