Went for a run after work yesterday. All was good. In my 20+ years of running, I can't say I've had knee issues.
Well, I was squatting underneath DS's highchair picking up food afer dinner, and on my way up got a searing pain over my left knee and it kind of "locked up". I had to brace myself on a chair and push myself the rest of the way up.
The rest of the night it was very tender. I could walk on it, but bending it or doing things like climb stairs was very painful. When I woke up this morning it still felt the same, and was slightly swollen.
Then on my drive to work I was bending and straightening it, when it made a loud pop. It's still a little tender and puffy, but is otherwise back to normal now.
Is it possible to randomly dislocate your knee cap and then have it shift back into place? I'm not far enough along that extra weight or relaxin should be messing with my joints. What the heck happened?
Yes. It's possible to sublux your patella. ICe and rest! It could also be your meniscus. See how it progresses. If it comtinues to lock up, I would get it checked out as that would indicate meniscus

Thanks hannahb. I was hoping you'd chime in with your expertice. It was such a freak thing. I didn't feel a pop when it happened, just when it "fixed" itself. Hopefully it was a one time deal, and not my meniscus
I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it was just a random thing and feels normal soon. I'd still be careful with it and limit intense impact stuff. How are you feeling otherwise? Maybe you're already limiting stuff because of fatigue?
When I tore my meniscus a year and a half ago, it was a sudden (well, falling out of the bed) OMG! I can't walk! I could barely walk on it for several days. My knee was swollen. It stabilized into a painful walk for 6 weeks before I had surgery to remove the tear.
