Absolutely. I went on a cruise with a friend and at the time her twin boys were 2 1/2 or so. We each had a stroller for one of them and used them on all of the shore excursions. It was easy!

Fun! What excursions did y'all do? We didn't find that many that were toddler friendly. We booked one day at atlantis and figured we would just walk around and swim at the beach the second day.

We went on a cruise that left from NJ and went up to Canada so totally different excursion choices than you'll have. She reviews cruises for a living so she goes on all of them. When her boys were little like this (they are now 11) she did more like you're thinking--things where we would just walk around with them. Let them get some energy out. No activities like swimming with the manta rays (which we did pre-kids in the Caymans).
Also--she was great at scouting out deserted parts of the ship where they could just run around and tire themselves out. The arcade was usually totally empty and perfect for that.
Did anyone else go without a passport? We are sticking in the bahamas so not really worried about anything crazy happening. They say you need them in case you need to fly home for an emergency but the only emergency we would fly home for would be the kids and we will be with them. I am going to apply for our passports tomorrow - getting an appt was a bitch- but they aren't necessary for the cruise. I feel uneasy about it but I am reading that it was just fine. Hmmmmmm.
It should be no problem. We took an umbrella stroller on our cruise (Royal Caribbean) with a 1 year old several years ago. It was a must. The toddler cannot walk around the ship so much, meaning we would have to carry him if we did not have the stroller. Also, the ship hallways are narrow, and the rooms are small, so the umbrella stroller folded up and stored away when we did not need it.

My parents have gone on several cruises with us with no passports. At our home port terminal (galveston) there are 2 lines (passport only line and birth certificates line). Obviously the passport only line is faster, but the birth certificates line is normally not that much longer since most people dont use them.
We've only been on one cruise, going on another one one month from today!!!
We had our passports anyway, but they are definitely good if you can get them! It's good case you miss the ship when you're in a port. Makes things easier if there is a medical emergency and you need to get back to the States.

I am doing this exact same thing. We just booked our cruise on Sunday and we leave Feb 23rd, no kids though.
We decided not to pay the $60 extra (each) to rush them. We figure if something happens, having them at least "in process" should help us get home. Maybe not? Who knows. I am trying to be breezy. If I was bringing my kids I'd probably be more worried about it.

My dh and I just came back from a cruise with Carnival that went to the Bahamas. We did not have our children with us but there were many people who had strollers when they went ashore. The cruise line did not seem to have an issue with it. There were two times we needed to use our passport that was boarding the ship and on the way back with customs. We just used the passport cards which would not have worked for flying. We used our passport cards when getting back on the ship since we had them but the cruise line kept saying over and over you just need a government ID to return back on the boat.
We leave on one with our toddler next month. My H and I have passports, but I didn't want to spend $175 getting one for my son that would probably never be used again. Although now, I kind of wish we had just gone ahead and gotten it. I can be a nervous nelly. We are bringing our small fold up stroller. I am also becoming one of those moms I said I would never be, and purchased one of those leash type things for him. He's two and a runner. I just needed it for peace of mind while out on foreign countries. Enjoy your vacation! I love cruises.

The family that was in front of me...they had a 5 year old son and they were in the passport only line even though he didnt have one. They got through customs super easy and fast since he is a kid.
Also, I cruise with my passport but i never bring it with me to an excursion or the port, i leave it on the boat.

See, I am less worried since the kids will be with us. I think we would only fly home if they were there and some kind of emergency came up.
