Her surgery was a success, and she was released yesterday (Day 5). She's doing well, other than getting up a lot last night to use the bathroom. I think that is from her body releasing all the IV fluids though. Anyways, here is a picture of her last xray before her surgery, and the xray afterwards (they had to make sure the PICC line was in the right spot). I'm completely amazed at how straight it is!
Wow, that is such a dramatic difference! My spine is much like her before picture, and I always wonder how things would be different if I'd had the surgery as a kid.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
That is amazing. I find it incredible the advancements they've made in technology and medicine since I was young. I went to school with a young lady that had a curvature but they didn't have the technology to straighten it; she was in a back-and-neck brace for several years through middle and high school in their efforts to help her spine straighten (if you can remember Long Duc Dong's girlfriend on Sixteen Candles, that would have been her); what they can do today is truly amazing. (But then, I also learned to program computers on punch cards and desk top computers were almost unheard of.)
And even if it's not enough growth to warrant a new wardrobe, I'd say she's been through enough to warrant at least a couple smashing new outfits.

Thanks everyone! Her recovery is ok so far. I've stayed on top of her medicine and that seems to be helping. She is able to lay down on her own, but needs help getting up still. As for her wardrobe, we haven't put on jeans yet, but I'm hoping she doesn't need new ones yet lol. She's very skinny for a 7 year old (this is also another issue we have to battle), so putting her in a bigger size is going to be crazy. :/ I guess we will see when we put jeans on her. Her shirts fit fine though, so that's good.
