In light of Black History Month being upon us, I give you a blog post about Black Films you must watch. Yes, I know we've done a CEP version of this list, but blog posts must also be shared.

duely noted. i've actually seen more on this list than i'd have thought.
the disclaimer at the end kills me:
* If you’re not black, better black awareness. But don’t get it twisted: 28 movies do not a culture make. Don’t get your ass beat for trying to understand your black co-workers by suddenly dapping them up or trying to debate the symbolism of Doughboy shooting that Eazy E clone in the back.
Yes. You may have extra credit. More extra credit will be given once I get to Denver and you can insert lines from these movies seamlessly into conversation.

You have to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka!
Rosewood makes me so damned angry. Sooooooooooooo damned angry. It also marks one of two times in my entire history of watching movies that domestic violence made me happy.
Number two goes to J.Lo beating Billy Campbell's ass at the end of Enough.
DH makes me watch Purple Rain at least twice a year. Do I get extra credit for that?
Your H is a man after my own heart.
I was 13 when that movie came out and I wanted to see it in the theater SOOOOOO BAD!!!!11! But it was rated R, and no adult would take me. I had to wait 23 gazillion years for it to come out on video. Having to wait all that time traumatized me for life.
So I'm on the history films link now and OMG, I loooooooooved the hell out of Men of Honor. Love that movie. LOVE.IT! I wanted to stand up and cheer when he was all, fuck you, honky, I'm finishing my shit! Both my mama and my grandfather were in the navy so that movie spoke to me.

I saw Purple Rain when it first came out - and loved it at age 16 (sneaking into the theatre as it was rated R). And ten others. Glad to see some movies to watch that I didn't know about.

My husband loves Prince too. His music library is all Danzig, Black Flag, Nirvana, MSI, the Ramones . . . and Prince.
I did really well by that list. However, I will have to watch them again because I doubt I could quote lines. Maybe some Boyz in the Hood if I sat and thought about it.
