First, it's grammatically correct, and secondly, I don't really care if they think it's derogatory. They are one of the main reasons there's a resurgence of VPDs. There are some issues with needing boosters, global society, etc, but a big instance is due to non-vaccinating, so I'm not sorry if their feelings are hurt.
NOOOOO!!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? They can't coopt pro choice for their insane agenda!
Pro vax choice maybe? It was something like that. I forget exactly.
I believe she opened with saying she wasn't anti-vax, but pro parental choice, which sounds less BSC, but still. As the discussion went on she veered more towards the big pharma/big government conspiracy whackadoo angle.
I found the whole thing interesting because she came across as kind of desperate to try and sound reasonable and not paranoid and the rest of the panel looked like they were thisclose to breaking out the "come the fuck on! You can't be serious with this shit!"
But as to the OP, sorry if your feelings are hurt anti-vaxxers, but frankly you have earned the eye rolling and derogatory tone used. You made your choice to jump on this bandwagon of insanity, now deal with the fallout and shut up.

Such bullshit- she's pro her choice as a parent. Her choice effectively prevents other parents from making their own choice not to expose their children (especially those who can't be vaccinated because of medical reasons) to harmful diseases.
I'll have to check this out tonight - pro-choice-vax sounds like they are reaching too hard. Did she keep it 100? I'd bet not!
Did you check up on me?
Totally checking up on you, but I watch the Nightly almost every evening now - just on Hulu, so I have to watch on a one-day delay.
She did say, "Pro-choice-vaccination" and she was weird b/c she came on The Nightly in a Tshirt - not even a fancy T-shirt, a Target Tshirt. I mean Larry wears a full suit. What did her mama teach her about dressing the part? Anyway...
When he asked her if "A vaccination against autism was found, would you get that for your kids?" and she quickly said, "No way, I don't trust the government." I rolled my eyes, but when Larry said, "That's fucked up!" I about died!
But yes, I did look up the CDC Whisteblower that she mentions and it's a little exaggerated. I have attached a link to his legal statement. As I understand, he is an independent scientist who studied the connection of MMR and autism and published his findings that the CDC is referencing - NOT a part of the CDC itself, right? He is still adamant that vaccines are good and vital, but does say there might not be causation of the MMR to more black boys having autism, but they did fail to report a significant increase in autism found in black male kids who were vaccinated. www.morganverkamp.com/august-27-2014-press-release-statement-of-william-w-thompson-ph-d-regarding-the-2004-article-examining-the-possibility-of-a-relationship-between-mmr-vaccine-and-autism/
I do hate that she might have been right on that point that the authors of that work chose not to present some data for peer-review and follow-on studies. However, the PhD scientist who wrote the paper that CDC used to show that MMR was not linked to autism is still pro-vaccination and I don't know what else to think about it until the data is reviewed by other immunologists.
What was even weirder on The Nightly to see the anti-vax lady and Mike Yard sort of agree on not trusting the government.
ETA: Oh and nannerl - I'm a little anti-big Pharma, I know we need them to provide life saving meds and vaxs, but they also make a lot of money. But that is why we have the CDC and FDA (and our doctors, too) it's sort of a built-in checks and balances.
downtoearth, I understand. I think blind faith in any institution can be misguided. Pharma companies need to be subjected to robust over sight and transparency just like all big organizations that affect people's lives and well being. And they do make a ton of money, but they also have done an amazing job virtually eradicating many potentially fatal diseases. I guess my point is I'm not seeing how that panelist's argument of "and they make a ridiculous amount of money" is a reasonable argument for not vaccinating your kids.
