$1770/mo for a 1BR/1 BA 700 sq ft apt. It's way more than I have ever paid to live anywhere else, including when we paid PITI + extra to principal every month on our house.
But we love the location and because of it we also save on transportation costs. And we have in unit W/D which almost every other apt we looked at did not have and the cost of laundry can add up fast, so I have to remember that.
HoneySpider W/D is HUGE! I can't imagine a change like that! I am very sheltered by our low cost of living around here. Your rent cost is more then half of DH's take home pay for a month.

2200 sq ft home...$800/month. It's only that cheap because we put a 50% down payment. It should be paid off completely sometime in March, within two years of buying it.

Thanks bk1! I'm amazed too. We had a 5 yr plan but just kept plugging away. Selling our condo and getting some money (what we had paid in principle), our prolonged TTC journey and me staying at my job a lot longer than originally planned is really the only way we were able to accompliish this so soon. All of my money ((I actually make slightly more than DH so a really good income) went to the mortgage (as extra principle).

$830/month for a 2 bed, 2 bath. It's 900 something sq ft I think. Has a fireplace and includes heat. Does not include electric or cable. Building has a community room, small gym and a hot tub. We can definitely get a house cheaper..
$1500/mo, 4 bed 2 bath, 2100ish sqft on .25 acre. In LCOL area. We own, 15 year mortgage. We have the best interest rate you could get in 2013, thank goodness for excellent credit scores (which I attribute to DH forcing me to watch my credit better). It's a 20 year old house, so it needs a few updates to be more energy efficient. Fortunately, we got a new roof as part of the negotiations when buying. We would like to get a new A/C soon to decrease electricity costs.
1,400sqft duplex 3/2 (narrow) 1 car garage which we use for storage. 2 outside parking spots No back yard, only a strip of gravel/weeds along the side which we don't use at all.
I live in an area where 20 year old cookie cutter Kaufman and Broad tract homes are going for $750k+. Housing is ridiculously expensive, we can't afford to buy around here so we're stuck with renting. The only reason why we stay here is because both sides of the family live here and the schools are good.
Here's an example of a home that's for sale near me. $769k and you're literally on top of your neighbors.
$2050 for 1 bedroom/1bath plus loft, garage, and laundry, 1100 sq ft. But $100 of that is a fee for our 2 dogs, so you could subtract that if you had no pets. Does not include any utilities.

jjwritergirl- Mine was mortgage only. We pay another ~$400/month in property tax and ~$100/month for insurance (we just removed ourselves from paying the property tax in the escrow account because they were withholding too much money).

Oh, that reminds me, we do have a washer/dryer also! Best thing ever after years of paying for each load and lugging everything up and down stairs just to find the washers are all taken.. not fun!

$1300/month mortgage and taxes. 3 bed, 2 bath house in MCOL suburban area. We got a pretty good mortgage rate (3.25) so I'm trying to get more time in this house before moving.
