The Detroit Zoo is in my neighborhood. It's pretty awesome. There are two levels of fence with fabric on them between the neighborhood street and the zoo's property, but you can see the camels through it. You can sometimes hear the lions (not from our house, but while walking/running/biking on that street.)
Get this, ppl in my neighbor are complaining about the noise! I guess some complained about events, but most of the complaints seriously are about the animal noise.
They are holding a meeting at the zoo to discuss it. I swear, if I worked at the zoo, I'd just say AYFKM the whole time.
We live near a regional airport and there are people in my neighborhood that complain about airplane noise. Hey genius, you bought a house near an airport. Deal with it or move your ass elsewhere.

Exactly! The zoo has been there forever. In the newspaper article, the zoo even explained that they monitor the noise closely and have moved events/stages because of it!

People are crazy. They move into a area and expect the environment to change for them. Like the lady that complained of noise from the bbq's at the lake. During the day on a Saturday in the summer. She was basically laughed off the community fb board. She said she moved to the country for quite. Our neighborhood has 200 homes surrounding a lake. Super country /eyeroll
I say send anyone who is complaining about lion noise in to tell the lions personally. I'm sure it will work out great for everyone (lions and normal people)

Those people ARE crazy. I would go to the meeting and say that the sounds are endearing and the events are community building and great for raising ecological and animal awareness and that you don't mind at all.

These people are crazy. I want to live by a zoo.
There's a neighborhood going up that had the very active railway going right through the middle of it. These are 400-1M dollar houses going in. I'm a little way from the railroads and I can hear the trains. I bet it's loud over there. I'm giving it a year until they're holding meeting about freight train noise....

I think I know where you're talking about.
A few years back I worked for a local Chamber of Commerce and heard complaints all.the.time from the people who moved into nice, brand new houses in an area next to 1) a busy train crossing, 2) a high school, and 3) a horse ranch (which used to own all the land in the area).

I had a hard time holding my tongue.
Who would complain about a horse ranch? That would be my perfect neighbor!
I'm ready to be thoroughly entertained by the candelas home buyers complaining about fallout from Rocky Flats. They cannot even take away the dirt they dug out for the basements. I cannot fathum what they told those people to get them to purchase very pricy homes over there. A concrete cap 30 feet under the ground is Not enough to make me believe it's safe living 1 mile from an old plutonium plant.
The people next to the YMCA have sheep and emu. When we are out on the playground it sounds like raptors in the woods. Lol. These people are crazy. Although it would be a little unsettling hearing lions on a walk.
