B/c everyone loves a before & after PIP.
This is the door from the garage to the kitchen. We wanted to replace it when we did the rest of our interior doors but it was too pricey. But it kept blowing open in the wind, so time for an upgrade. Yay for an aesthetic & practical upgrade! I still need to paint it.
simpsongal, how difficult was it to install and how long did it take. Did you buy a pre-hung door? We've purchased one and it is sitting in my garage waiting for us to install it, but my husband thinks I am crazy for not wanting to outsource. (To be fair, I have a bad track record of suggesting what seems like a simple project and completely redoing a room )

Ooh, I hate to say but we had a contractor do this (and it was a little pricey). The contractor did it in about 2.5 hours with two others guys. So it's not an easy job per say.

Sorry
Darn, that doesn't help my case. Youtube makes it look not horrible, lol.

Our old contractor took 6 hours to do ours, no joke. I couldn't believe it. They can build houses faster than they hang up a door LOL
So true! Our carpenter is awesome and generally seems super quick, but I have been very surprised at how long it seems to take him to hang a door. I get the impression it is really not a very easy job.

Mind if I ask how much the install cost?
$1150 which included the door. It was way more than our interior door replacement b/c the threshold, molding, framing around the door all had to be replaced (they were not rotten or anything, but I gather it's standard to have to update those things too). We got several quotes too.
Good luck! I'm sorry, door hanging is tough and I'm not sure I would feel comfortable doing an important one like a fire-rated door.
