This is related to my prime rib post below. What are you favorite recipes for brussel sprouts? We ate at Flemings now long ago and they had this amazing shredded BS side dish. I grew up in a house where sprouts were cooked on the stove, mushy and stinky. I was 34 when I had a real one and LOVED them. But I never make them. Help me.
I like taking fresh ones, and slicing them in half. Then heat butter in a pan and put them cut side down and let them cook through and then turn the heat up and caramelize all the cut edges.

This exactly PLUS slivers of thick bacon and I throw a little EVOO in with the butter. Finish with fresh cracked pepper mmmm!

My mom would make the Green Giant ones and put them in a double boiler. I still remember how the house would smell. I went home with a boyfriend to meet his family and his mom had them on the table. I panicked. I ate them and was shocked at how good they were!
Me too! I love to halve them and toss with oil and sprinkle with water and toss in a cake pan and roast at 450 for about 15 minutes. The water and sided pan steam them a little and them they roast.
I also like to thinly slice them so they're shredded and stir fry them.

Brush pan with olive oil. Cut the really big sprouts in half, leave smaller ones whole, put on pan & brush with olive oil. Sea salt & pepper (fresh ground) then bake at 425 for about 20 minutes. Shake the pan a couple of times while roasting.
And be sure to nom all the individual leaves that turn into crispy chips, mmmmm.

I like to trim the bottoms and get the outside leaves off first, then I toss them in olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and roast quick at 400. It only takes like 10 min, but my kids fight me for them.
