But so far, everybody is responding about how it makes them feel about their own parenting/preferences/etc, and not how she feels about hers. I think again, context is important, and just looking at the picture, I can't feel like it's being judgy or making a statement about anyone's choices but her own, and her confidence and pride in them.
Cream in case you can't tell from my "like" frenzy, you're not the lone dissenter! I think it's a funny and lovely photo. If she posted it with #areyoumomenough then I take issue with it. But just as a photo, I don't automatically assume she's being obnoxious.
I'm shocked I'm the lone dissenter in here, lol. But what if she does nurse while doing yoga? I'm not saying this isn't an opportunist picture, but isn't that what basically 90% of instagram is? You AW stuff you think you rock at or enjoy. People takes pictures of food, clothes, gym workouts, whatever. So she took a picture of this, and she's proud of it. I don't have an issue with it.
Does it have a condescending caption?
E is with you. He said 'maybe she was doing yoga and the kid came over and wanted to nurse so she let him, her husband thought it funny and so took a pic'.
Eh...I don't really care about the picture one way or another...I just think it's dumb.
Anytime something appears on the Internet in a non-private way I assume that is never the case lol. I've read too many mommy blogs to assume the best intentions.
Also, I think it absolutely could happen spontaneously. Kai could smell the combination of vulnerability and breastmilk a mile away, and you can bet he'd crawl his chubby little cloth-diapered butt over as fast as he could.
This one came from FB - someone on my feed posted something similar but it was with an older child / more nude. I did a google image search for "yoga breast feed" and this one came up linked to another fb open account.

I actually kind of love the photo. Is it staged, maybe, but it's still pretty awesome!
I don't think she was just doing that pose and they took a picture of a spontaneous moment. I would think it rather impossible to get one strap of what appears to be something like a sports bra and her arm out if the armhole of her tank top.
It's not that she's feeding her child in an unusual pose, it's the fact that she had someone take a picture and then posted it online. She wants attention. But then again, doesn't everyone want attention when they post a picture?
I wonder if I stand on my head nude tomorrow if E will take a bottle from me. I'm going to slap " bottle feeding" across the photo my H takes in huge white letters.

But would you post it on Facebook? (I want to see!!!)
I would do a focus group here first. HBDB: Breastfeeding yoga edition!

Please do this.
I'm going to put it in my sexy Valentine's Day photo book for H. LOL
If I could get into this position my infant would certainly take full advantage of the situation, lol.
Totally. I won't even begin to tell the stories of Colin and Oliver finding any and all situation perfectly acceptable to nurse. IF I could do this pose, no doubt they would take it upon themselves to nurse if they wanted to. Although clearly this was planned basing off of the arm out of the shirt.
I think I shy away from public breastfeeding photos in general because I'm not sure it is something that my kids would want out in the public. Imagine if this kid's friends found this pic while he (i think it is a boy) is in middle school. I just think she is not the only one in the pic and her kid can't exactly consent yet.

Dude, Zoe and Kai are the same. If I could do yoga at all, and Zoe sensed how close to the ground my breasts were, she'd be there, guaranteed. I like this photo, I think it's neat.
But why does it matter if this is attention seeking? Or dumb? Or silly? Or whatever!
Don't look.
If it's empowering to her, then I say go mama! It's not something I would do (or could do, FWIW) but she's proud of herself. That's awesome.
It absolutely doesn't matter if it is AW, dumb, silly or anything else, but the reality is that when you put something out there to be looked upon you take the good with the bad. Some people will really appreciate it, other people won't get it and that's ok too.
It looks contrived. I'm pro-BF and had my boobs out all over the public place, it's very open around here. But this photo seems totally staged and not natural at all. Maybe that's the point? IDK.

Maybe the point is to AW. I don't think anyone isn't saying that photo isn't staged/contrived, but isn't what FB is all about?
