We have an old wine cabinet from crate and barrel which has racks behind latched doors. It's survived a few minor quakes - the racks allow the glasses to sway.
I just have them on a shelf upside down (not hanging) in our bar, and 1 or 2 in a kitchen cabinet (just because the bar is full lol We go on a lot of wine tours and get a lot of freebies so i've hit capacity).

I just have mine on a shelf upside down. I do have that grippy-shelf liner, which may give an extra bit of protection if things started shaking. I've never had damage to the rim of a wineglass (all mine have just broken through my klutziness) but then again mine probably aren't fancy glasses either. If you do hanging racks, I wonder if you could put some kind of little pull-down/push-up stopper at the end of the row, so that they couldn't slide out accidentally?

We used to hang them, but they were getting chips from bumping against one another and after the first time I broke a (thankfully cheap) glass by knocking it off the upside down rack, I started keeping mine upside down in the cabinet. They're nice and heavy, but they're also top-heavy (great design choice, waterford), so putting them upside down actually protects them from my klutziness.
Honestly, I keep all my glassware (but strangely not mugs) upside down and I've never had a rim chip on anything.
