I did not like Into the Woods. I knew it was a musical, but it still wasn't what I was expecting. And I feel like it was too long for what it was. Plus, I feel like I didn't understand some of the characters (like, was Prince Charming supposed to be funny/comic relief? Sometimes it felt like there was over-acting going on & it seemed like it was on purpose but I couldn't tell).
I'm still impatiently waiting to see Selma. We've talked about going to see it the last few weekends, then things have come up and we haven't made it to a movie. This weekend isn't going to happen either, but I'm hoping next weekend. I hear it is excellent.

It just left my local theater! I was going to see it.
Selma was amazing. I am like the exact audience for American Sniper and it made me so grumpy. I mean, if you like films that are complete BS and one man propaganda, then sure, it's your film.
I am surprised by your thoughts on American Sniper - but I agree with your overall assessment.
Disclaimer: I have not watched the movie, but this is the conclusion I came to after reading/hearing so much about it.
Everyone I know who has seen American Sniper, loved it. I saw the Gambler and thought it was fantastic. I haven't heard of the others in your list except for In The Woods.

I loved Sniper, but I agree with Stan about a lot of things. I know damn well snipers would have taken that shot. It's just the way it is. The movie also made me more irritated that we were in Iraq in the first place, when we really shouldn't have been.
However, the movie was good, and the sandstorm reminded me of when I lived in the Middle East. We called them shmals (sp?) though.
I was going to recommend Selma until I saw that your theater no longer had it. It's such an excellent movie. I'm surprised that the theater has already moved on! I've heard good things about The Imitation Game, so I think that might be next on our list.

Oh I know there are sandstorms! But Cobras sure as heck aren't flying in them! Lol. It's technical stuff that makes me crazy.
Oh I know. I leaned over to DH and was like, that's a load of shit and you know it. He told me to be quiet. :::eyeroll:::
Birdman was my favorite, and might win best picture. The imitation game was quite good.
I will probably see Selma (or else Wild) tonight. I want to see A Most Violent Year and Inherent Vice. You could not pay me enough to see American Sniper.

Going to see Boyhood, American Sniper and Birdman soon.
Movies we've watched/seen and loved:
John Wick -- best action movie since The Raid 1&2 Hobbit:BoTFA The Grand Budapest Hotel -- we watched this over the summer. Hope it wins Best Picture. Nightcrawler. Jake was totally robbed of an Oscar nomination. He rocked that role. Gone Girl -- we love Fincher movies and enjoyed the thriller/mystery aspects of it. I hope Rosamund gets the Oscar. Her character is batshit-fucking crazy, and she played it oh-so well. Imitation Game
I'm going to order Predestination. The reviews look great. I love time travel/sci-fi movies. Ex Machina is another we want to see, but it doesn't release until April.
