I'm curious about this after discussing it with a friend. We disagreed on what was "common" for a couple. Just getting a general idea of how much time that you are both working overlaps each other.
ETA: for app users...
Similar work hours (6-8 hours overlap) Some overlap (3-5 hours overlap) Opposite shits (2 or less hours overlap) One of us doesn't work Neither of us work
We have similar core hours. We both have days where we are at work much longer than the normal day but we try to not work on late on the same days so one of us can go home to let the dogs out.
SS I work M-F 8-5 and H works 24 hours on Tues, 12 hours Wed and typically 12-24 on a weekend day. Like today he went to work a bit ago to start at 8PM and he gets off at 7PM tomorrow.

SS. We both work retail and work varied shifts. His changes a lot more frequently than mine now that I am Management. My schedule is supposed to be Day shift Mon and Tues, 3rd shift Wednesday night through Friday night/Saturday morning. I usually move my schedule around to accommodate his since I have the ability to as long as I log my 40 (salary). We overlap a few days a week and then some days are completely opposite shifts to have child coverage.

I voted "2 hours or less" but there is never really any overlap. We work opposite shifts, never get a day off together, except for rare occasions. Somtimes it really sucks, but saves us from any child care expense.

SS: DH's schedule changes seasonally. Winter we have similar hours but in summer there's only about 4 hours of overlap. We also have different days off.
