Do I need to have activities for a 2 hr 2nd bday?

We didn't have anything for my girls' family party (8ish kids ages 6 months to 5), but I brought some toys and stuff. And they got a bit destructive towards the end (the 2-3 year olds).

How many kids will you have?

Hire a balloon guy. That is always a hit at any party we've gone to in the 2-3 year old range!

I set up play areas- bubbles, play dough, coloring, a small bounce house (that was her present), balls, etc and it was fun

I think stations would be better than organized activities. A coloring station is an easy one. You could also do a play dough station.

could you set up a soft obstacle course with tunnels/hula hoops?

i like the idea of stations.

you could do bowling, simon says, musical chairs, freeze dance. art, bubbles, tattoos.

I would bring a few toys. Bubbles, play doh, etc. Anything more structured or involving following instructions is going to be like herding cats with that age group.

Do any of your friends have those small bounce houses? I think stations is really cute too.

Probably about 15 kids from ages 1-11.

I think this sounds great. DS loves our little ball pit and would go nuts over a tunnel. He pretends everything is a tunnel lately. I would include at least one quiet type of activity like coloring, sticker books, or a giant puzzle for kids that might be a bit more mellow or shy.

I have one but they told me I can't bring it bc of insurance. If I rented a bounce house from a place, then it wouldn't be an issue.

Bring a bunch of balls and some pool noodles to beat each other with.

Pool noodle battles appeal to a wide age group.

Our YMCA does parties and they provided a person to lead games, parachute, mats etc. It was a gym themed party.

I think the ball pit, tunnel, and coloring books or play dough would be great. Although we did go to a birthday party for a two and four-year-old that was at the airport - it was just a large room, no activities (other than watching the planes) and the kids had a blast just chasing each other around.
