i'd rather pay for an equinox gym membership and get a variety of stuff
Does your Equinox offer barre classes?
The gym I go to in Hong Kong is the the same company (but it's called Pure Fitness here) and we have everything except Barre. It make me sad because it seems like something I would really like. But maybe if Equinox has it we will get it soon.
And our showers are so nice too! It is so much nicer than my shower at home. Granted this says as much about my crappy apartment as anything else, but still. They have waterfall or rainforest or whatever shower heads! It's great!
The Daily Method Barre classes by me are $100 unlimited classes for new students for 1 month. Then $140 or $125 per month unlimited depending on how long you signed up for.
I go to Dailey Method too and it's a lot more than that for unlimited where I am . Lucky!!

I don't do Barre, but I do pay $150 per month for my membership. The basic membership is $90 for unlimited cardio classes. I also do metabolic classes (insanity, boot camp, TDF, etc.). I could pay $10 for the local gym, but I'd never go and absolutely wouldn't get the workout. In the end, I think the $100+ memberships are better values because people actually go and utilize it. However, I fully understand that I am lucky to be able to make this decision.
I will say having a gym with good classes is 100% worth it. I never used to like group fitness stuff, but now that I have a kid I need the structure of a class to get me to actually work out. If I can't count on showing up for my specific class is make excuses to never go.
It's expensive, but it's the best workout I've ever done. I do Pure Barre. I have tried a cheaper version, but didn't like it.
Yeah, I signed up for a one-year contract at Pure Barre so I pay $135 / month. But since I go 4-5 times per week, it's worth it (or that's what I tell myself / my husband, LOL). From time to time our studio will offer challenges or deals that you can take on a free week or a few weeks of classes at a super discounted rate. I've probably racked up 6 weeks of free/cheap classes by now.
A monthly membership would be $260 at one place or $375 at another; without discounts each class is $35-$36. I only ever buy packages when they're on Gilt City.
It is loosely based on ballet technique and moves. feet and arm positions, plies, attitudes, releve, etc. But turns it into more isometric movements and incorporates light weights. So you might do a low front attitude and just do tiny pulses up for a minute, while holding a light weight in 2nd. It works parts of your muscles, and your stabilizer muscles, that more traditional weight exercises don't. The most I've ever used for a barre class is 3 lbs. And if I'm even remotely tired when I start, I have to put down the weights at some point. It's intense, and hurts like crazy after the first few times, but I love it!
I feel like I make a decent living, and these prices are causing me great discomfort.
You don't ever want to know what I pay for pilates then! But I truly enjoy it; it's one of the few things where I get that exercise-high. So I prioritize it.
Also, I don't eat out as often anymore. Yay(for my wallet)/boo(for my mouth)

I only go 2x week, so $36/week. My other hobby is riding horses, which I do 3-4x week, so between Pure Barre and riding lessons, the rest if my family is not allowed to have hobbies, lol.

That is $144 per month just for barre.
LOL that other members of your family cannot have hobbies!
YES. i love it so much. my bridesmen love it too and they are picky princesses, i think one of them uses the BH location. it's clean, so clean. i love the cafe area for quick takeout, bathrooms are so clean. i love showering there as much as home
The spa services aren't bad either!
The only thing that would convince me to join is if members got all the spa services for free.

I'm a member at Equinox. I love it. Except when all the girls who "work out" are there when the pro athletes are in. It's a little funny but super eye roll worthy.
The classes and amenities are awesome. And the childcare rooms are like a real preschool setting.
The place I've gone to is $199 a month for unlimited classes or you can pay per class which is $16. If you buy packages of classes the price goes down. For example, 20 classes is $240.
