Maybe $25 each? I took 3 iconic vacation photos (like the Roman Colosseum), Wal-Mart printed poster prints (20x30), spray-painted Wal-Mart frames to my desired color, and hung them. They aren't museum quality, but they don't have people in them and they are generic yet very personal.
One of the other items is a framed copy of our wedding invitation.

One was free. We inherited a small crazy quilt from my grandparents. They had it framed. It is very old, but beautiful, with rich fabrics and intricate stitching, I used to play with it with my dolls as a child.
We have two signed prints from a guy named Jim Booth. Both are of places I went as a kid.
It's funny because DH and I bought them on our first trip to my parents house 16 years ago. Your post made me look them up. The insurance value of the one I bought is more than 2x's that of the one DH bought, even though, his at the time was far more expensive. It's just curious how the value of art is determined.
Buy what you like and what makes you happy for the long run. We have a mini painting from a guy named James Dean (he illustrates I love my white shoes) that I love every bit as much as much larger originals that cost much more. In our living room, we currently have 3 paintings my DD did. One of them is actually really good, and will remain (she is 8).
I bought two huge canvases, some paint, paintbrushes, and some newspaper and let my two favorite little kids go to town. I love them and they were so cheap. I get a good chuckle at their handprints and one random chicken lol.
Free. A few things my brother brought home from when he lived in China that are surprisingly perfect for our space. The other is a framed eidelweiss a friend brought me from when he lived in Switzerland. Yeah, there are some seriously blank spaces.
The two you picked are not my style, but I like the map more. Could you not get a map from your area, state, nearby historic, or national park, place you'd like to visit, and have it framed at Michael's for much less with more meaning?
Other ideas are framed house plans, or other large scale pictures..
You might want to check Pier One too. I have a similar style/colors in my house and found quite a few things there with a lot of blue in them.
To answer your original question, we have very few blank walls in our bedroom, so I only have a couple of small prints I got years ago at Kirkland. I don't remember what they cost, but not much.
We bought a map at a little store in St. Thomas that has some islands we've been too and islands we want to visit and had it framed at Michael's during a sale
We also picked up a few small beachy prints in Spain we have hanging.
We have a giant empty hole above the bed for this unicorn photo or art we can never seem to find.
I have three medium sized starburst type mirrors above my bed. I wanted a set of 3 from Pottery Barn, but couldn't stomach the price. I found a duplicate set from Ballard Designs for half the price.
Depending on your decor, a large starburst mirror might look good and fill a large space. I know I see them often at Homegoods for about $100.
2 of our boys are featured on her colored pencil gallery (the 2 full body drawings on the 2nd page). ETA - we bought them before she increase her prices, so we paid $500 for all 4.
We also have 2 watercolor greyhound themed paintings that I won in various charity auctions. ETA - can't recall how much I paid for each - probably $20 for the top & $40 for the bottom - but the framing is what killed us. Since they were unique sizes we had to get custom framing. So I think we paid about $50 - $60 for each frame (and that was the least expensive, basic glass, on sale at Micheal's).
The majority of the art work in our house is greyhound themed.... lol it's a cult.
We have a GIANT (30x40) cavas wrapped photo from our wedding. Its in black and white of us kissing under the Maui Banyan Tree. We're pretty small as its mostly the giant tree, so the tree is the focus. I love it. I think yiu can get them for around $100-200...i recommend going BIG with canvasses.
We have two prints hanging side by side over the bed. I first saw them in London, but was worried about transporting them home. Thankfully, I was able to buy them from art.com. I bought a groupon (or similar) and so it came to like $150 for both to be framed I think.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We have a framed picture of me on our wedding day, 3 framed pictures from our first dance above our bed and then a three slot frame with a picture of our wedding cake, a copy of our wedding invitation and a picture of our kiss at the wedding.
Thanks, everyone! I decided to swing by our local Ross Store and found 2 canvas arts with birdcage that's similar to the attached. These will be hung on one of the empty walls. And then a large flower on canvas that will be over the bed. I'm not too crazy about the birdcage arts but it fits the theme in the bedroom and they are only $14 each. Overall, the three items cost me $60, so very MM.
I took a photo of the actual wall arts but the lighting in my phone is pretty bad for tonight.
