I'm looking for some feedback on digital, audio only, baby monitors.
We have a Graco Secure Connect right now for Madison's room and I love it. I've bought 2 for Andrew's room so far that I hate. The first just distorted sounds very loudly even on the lowest setting and the newest I can barely hear anything on the highest setting (both safety first brand). I returned the first and will return the second to Target when I get one that I like.
So, what audio monitor do you have that you recommend, especially if you have 2 different monitors in the house? The one I have now works on the 900mHz setting (in case that matters). I really don't think we need or want a video monitor.
I was looking into the basic movement and sound angelcare monitor if it gets good reviews from ladies here. I haven't used the snuza for Andrew yet but I feel like I do need a movement monitor for my anxiety level.

We have this Avent one that we just bought and love. www.usa.philips.com/c-p/SCD501_10/avent-audio-monitors-dect-baby-monitor It goes silent when it is not sudden noise, but we find it very responsive. We use soft music in Mel's room at night and it doesn't get the monitor on, but when she sighs or tosses and turns, we hear the sound go on. Took some getting used to, but now I like it. There is absolutely no static with it, which is why we had to buy a new one. The old one had crazy amounts of static and it was horrible.
We use a motorola video one for T's room which I also love.
I don't have recommendations because both of ours pick up the white noise quite loudly and I actually prefer that but if you have a target one I'd return it ASAP as everything my H is reading they go to court on Wednesday and if the judge approves it liquidation can start on Thursday. Once the liquidation starts they won't take anything back.

I saw that announcement, too, but didn't realize they wouldn't take returns. Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking maybe I could get a cheap one on liquidation there.
I'm so torn!
For tonight we are going to switch out the monitors to each kids room. Madison doesn't really need a 'loud' monitor because when she needs us, she calls out for us. Whereas Andrew is a grunty newborn that I need to keep tabs on.
We used the audio only angelcare monitor for B when he was little and when we first moved to this house. We haven't used it in tandem with another monitor yet, but once E moves into his own room we'll be using the audio only monitor for B and a Motorola video monitor for E (that's just because our bedroom is on the other side of the house from the kids so I wanted the reassurance of a video monitor this time. In our old house we actually didn't really use the monitor at night because we could hear him just as clearly from our room with the door open.) More about the monitor: it has always been very clear, and we used an air purifier for white noise and it never seemed to make a difference. It has a good range, I've gone outside during nap time and it only gives warning beeps when I'm near the far edge of our property. I always had it on the lowest volume setting, otherwise I swear you could hear B breathing (even over the air purifier). I'd highly recommend it.
sandj82110 - I do like that it picks up the white noise but all the other monitors I bought for Andrew were one extreme or the other. Too loud or too quiet. Ridiculous. The Graco one is perfect. I actually emailed the company to see if I could buy another and whether they think it would work if they were on 2 different channels. I want them to know I love their monitor!

Thanks! That is great information.
This has really opened my eyes too that I should probably suck it up and go to an ENT about my 'bad ear'. I mean, it's great when I don't want to hear things at night but I'm having a major problem unless the monitor is good.

We have two audio only angel care monitors and I love them. We had the Sony one for Henry and it was awful. I am not sure about picking up white noise because I leave both of theirs on so I can hear the white noise in their rooms. You can change the settings of course. But with having two we have never had any interference or static
So I'm assuming that the audio angelcare monitor with movement would be just as awesome. You guys might have me sold. I feel like I need some kind of movement monitor but I'm too afraid to try and put the Snuza on him after he has fallen asleep.
I have two angelcare movement, video and sound monitors. I loved the first one so much we bought another. It picks up white noise, but I can turn the volume down on the unit so I can't hear it but can hear if she cries. The only time they get static is if I have the handheld too close to the camera unit.
I have a sound only (no movement pad) angelcare monitor, and I like it. The little halo nightlight on it is the perfect amount of light at night, too.
Do you find it has any/too much static? Do you use white noise in the room? Is that the only monitor you have? (sorry for the 3rd degree)
It didn't seem to start with the static until around two years; before that it seemed pretty clear.
We don't have white noise going all night, but P has a dolphin that makes ocean sounds for about 40 minutes at bedtime.
At the time we started using it, we had a really old monitor in B's room, as well as the one in P's room. They didn't seem to interfere with each other.

Is there a reason why you want to put the Snuza on after he falls asleep? I would have been a basket case trying to sleep without G's, but I just attached it to his diaper before he took a nap or went to sleep. It was a life saver for my peace of mind.

At this point he's pretty much nursing to bed so I would have to put it on either before I feed our after I lay him down. I tried to put it on last week at diaper change right before I nursed him but then it lost contact at some point while I was burping him and I felt it buzzing. I just feel like its going to come loose doing it that way. I don't really remember what I did with Madison.

Yeah, it's hard to remember back that far, especially the first few months. G was always a skinny baby, but I think we used his sleepers/onesies to help keep it in place. I've also heard good things about the Angelcare monitors.
We are using an angelcare movement and audio for J. No complaints.
Does she not move around the crib a lot? (I was going to tag you because I know you're one of the more anxious among us with regards to these monitors)

We have two of these VTech monitors. One in each room. We've had them for about a year and a half and they work great! Since they are the same we Sharpied an "A" on one and an "E" on the other.
