Yhis isnt rich white folk hating on wefare. This was Romney speaking to republica blue collar whites who hate chicago and all the walfare queens that like there. Basically every bumpie to complain about welfare ever. But thank god chicago carries the rest of the state and the collars arent as big shit as they like to believe
Do you really believe this? If so, do you think the opposite could be true as well? Why/why not?
I think the opposite is true, but for a smaller percentage, which actually should by all rights be a larger one because Obama is an incumbent.
I definitely saw it Bush v. Kerry. But then, the worst that was coming out about him was that his Purple Hearts might nut have bern for injuries the Right considered severe enough. Oooh.
You don't think that â€anybody ANYBODY but obama†will be the rally cry, what gets lots of people out there voting?
...via mobile.
IDK. You are suggesting that that many people would not care that either one was like Jerry Sandusky..a child molester. That they would still vote for him. I'd like to think that both sides have a bit more scruples than that.
Unless of course youre using hyperbole which would mean you really don't believe it ..but you said you did.

I thought it was fairly obviously hyperbole... But that doesn't change the point that a huge % of the electorate will forgive Romney anything ANYTHING, simply because he's not Obama.
...and I honestly don't think it is because of anything the man did in office, as the campaign against him started the day he was inaugurated.

Except that is kind of a weak argument. Of course campaigning starts the day one cycle ends. The policies, to many, are poor and when, what did I hear today, 70+% of the country thinks we're heading in the wrong direction, there's a problem.
none of you addressed my comment at the very beginning... how are people supposed to work without affordable childcare.
I have a dear friend who just go divorced. She gets CS but she's come to the realization that after being a SAHM for so long she can't go back to work and pay daycare for her 2 younger children. She has to wait 2 more years for them to start public school and then she can look for an entry level job that hopefully will pay her at least $40k/yr. She has started a side business that she can do with her kids to make things happen until then.

They can't, which is what makes the whole thing ridiculous. There are programs to help with childcare costs, but they often have ridiculously low salary caps.
If only these people on welfare would just pick themselves up by their boot straps, get off the government teat, and borrow money from their parents to start a business selling sandwiches to their parents rich friends.

Why didn't she negotiate in her divorce decree that her H pay for child care?
Second - she can look into getting a child care voucher. I had a friend who was able to get one of those. She didn't get any other assistance, just child care.
Real talk. This is why I only had one kid for so very long. (Other than the fact that I wasn't having a baby with some dude I wasn't married to) Daycare can easily run you $900 for two kids in my city.

I don't think people who live in $600k+ houses get vouchers
This anecdote is probably more a tale of the pitfalls of being a SAHM

I applied for childcare aid so I could work when living in NYC. The HHI cap for aid for a family of 4 was just about the cost of daycare (meaning you wouldn't be able to afford little things like food, clothing, and rent). Luckily I was not single, so DH worked extra hard (he's a doctoral student who travels a lot so we couldn't trade off) and tutored and taught as an adjunct to make up the difference between his stipend and what we needed. Daycare for two in Manhattan is not going to be less than $3K/month (and you're lucky to find it that low), I have never brought home more than $1600 (which was less than the rent on our very modest apartment).
