I watched all sort of inappropriate movies for my age. Top Gun was my favorite movie at 8. I had two older brothers and for some reason my parents just let me watch whatever they were watching.
My mom was weird as hell about movies when I was a kid and I didn't see many of these movies until I was in middle school and moved away from our slightly fundie neighbors who influenced her views on this stuff. I spent years faking all this cultural literacy and getting pissed at sleepovers when people talked over movies they had seen a million times that were brand new to me. The weird thing was that if it was a movie that she really liked my sister and I were allowed to see it with her but we had to keep a blanket in the room and put it over our heads during racy scenes in movies like Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing. I was SHOCKED when I got older that we were allowed to see those movies and what completely went over our heads at that age.
I watched all kinds of inappropriate movies as a kid. I think i had seen all of the Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play movies that were out by the time I was 7. It was cool at the time and didn't have any lasting effects but I really question my parents' judgement. Anyway, this lady better be make sure her basement is livable if she's not going to treat her child in an age appropriate way.

I think that's the funniest thing about watching these movies again as an adult. I had no idea that the blonde lady in Dirty Dancing was pregnant. I had no idea that she had an abortion. I didn't even know what an abortion was! Prostitution? That totally went over my head, and it was the whole point of the movie! LOL.
Cameron is so uptight if you put a lump of coal up his ads, in a week you'd have a diamond
So the letter writer is Cameron? Is that what you're saying?
God, can you imagine being ten and never having watched more than a handful of G rated movies? That's no Star Wars for you people keeping track at home.
And can you imagine when mom is all, ooo, look, I brought you a movie and breaks out Tangled? I bet this kid hates Elsa. I DON'T WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN. I WANT TO WATCH TRANSFORMERS!
Frozen is PG... The poor kid doesn't even know about building a snowman!

Well, those "warm hugs" just lead to teen pregnancy.
Oh yeah, I think I knew every line of Spaceballs by age 8.
Inappropriate? Maybe. Hilarious? Definitely.
"Are you sure we're not being too literal?" "No. He said comb the desert. We're combing the desert!"
My BFF's favorite movie during elementary school was Spaceballs. She went to a Catholic private school and they even let her bring it in to watch with the rest of the kids in the aftercare program she was in.
I loved (and still love) that movie.
although, it's a bit odd the first time it hits you that it's Tuvok from Star Trek voyager who says that line.
first tv/movies I remember? Monty Python and the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is unsurprising I have a lingering love of Clint Eastwood, and a warped sense of humor. I'm letting my not quite 4 year olds watch Looney Tunes, it all it's unedited glory. I clearly win/fail at parenting.
