I understand this is a hypothetical situation, but I am still curious how you would handle it!
My H's company takes the staff + spouses on a trip every year if they meet sales goals. The trip this year is a cruise - with an upgraded premium drink package purchased for each person. The dates fall on what will either be my CD1 or a BFP. Would the upcoming trip, which is booked and paid for, cause you to TTA this month or would you still try like normal? If you try and get a BFP, how would you handle the drink situation when you're going to be spending 7 days with 10 people?
H and I have talked about it and already know what we will do. I am just curious to hear what other people think!
(we aren't TTA. I am 1 month post-laparoscopy and the next 6 months are potentially our best chance of conceiving, so we are not going to waste a month to have some fancy drinks on a big boat.)

No way I would avoid, and if I was lucky enough to be KU, I would just order drinks at the bar (or out of earshot) and get like sprite with lime or something that looks passable. Or just get regular and sort of sip or just carry it around. Most people won't be paying that much attention. Sounds like a fun trip regardless!
Totally agree on KOKO, and I hope your first post-lap cycle is it for you! When I was pg before and just brand new and with people, I actually asked a bartender to keep me stocked on a virgin cocktail made to look like a vodka tonic, and gave him a nice tip.

I read this at a red light (no judging) and pulled over to a parking lot to tell you to still go for it. You can follow Mushe 's suggestion on the drinks if you are with child.
Thats how passionate I am about this topic.

Definitely I would still TTC. In fact, when we first started TTC, we booked a cruise that was 10 months away, only because it was this incredible deal that included an unlimited drink package and balcony upgrade. At the time of booking, I was certain that I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the drink package, and might not be able to go at all ( we would have only lost a $200 deposit if we cancelled). Well, that cruise was in December 2013, I went, had a great time, and took full advantage of the booze. Here I am in February 2015 and still not pregnant, so I suppose I am glad I didn't bother TTA, although it doesn't really matter at this point.

I would not abstain. And I would also drink until that BFP comes. And if I did have to stop drinking - which isn't necessary at first because you don't share a blood supply technically for 6 weeks - I'd blame it on too much sun or motion sickness. Or both. We are leaving in two weeks for a cruise and AF is due the second day of it. BLAH. Here's hoping for BFPs!
I would still TTC. I am anxious to get pregnant again. I also don't drink a lot and rarely drink in work situations. I will have a drink or two, but not every time I go out. Perhaps because I am used to it, I never feel weird about turning down a drink. No one asks me why.

This. Even if you did get a BFP, there would be no harm in having just a few drinks if you don't want people to speculate. Having a cruise to look forward to would be a great way to make the 2WW easier because regardless of what happens you get to go on a cruise!
Another vote for not skipping a cycle, but I probably wouldn't go on the cruise either. Cruises are not my thing. As for the drinking, I've given up alcohol periodically even when I wasn't pregnant. I just tell people the truth, which is that I'm trying to be healthier/cut calories. It's really nobody's business whether or not you're drinking, anyway.

I am doing this right now--not drinking and eating very differently than normal. Can you just tell people you are watching what you eat and drink (the hard part is, you would have to also not eat all the decadent food as well...)
otherwise, do what Mushe suggested--tip the bartender well and have them keep making you mocktails that looks like the real deal.

Thanks for all of the replies! I already eat healthy, so this wouldn't really be a change for me. While these are H's co-workers, they are also some of our very best friends and we spend a lot of time outside of work together. It would be VERY unlike me to not drink the whole time. Almost all of them know that we are TTC, so they will know right away if I am avoiding drinks (which, I am ok if they know, I won't try to hide it). If it comes down to it, I will have some fun virgin drinks and enjoy the cruise either way!

This sounds like such a blast! I hope you have a great time.
