I'm working on my diet this week, and I'm really struggling with the sweets. There is candy everywhere at my office, and I find myself picking up an embarrassing number of snack sized packets throughout the day. It's easier when I'm at home because there isn't as much temptation (we don't keep many sweets in the house), but now that I'm writing down everything I eat I'm finally realizing how much candy I eat during work days.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to avoiding sugary temptation when it's sitting in front of you for 8 hours every day?

Not good I was going to get back on track with counting calories today but that went to hell. Haven't been to the gym since Friday because of being OOT/snow/doctor appt. Tomorrow I am there. I can feel the difference after just a few days of eating poorly and not working out and I hate it!

This week has been pretty good on the eating side of things - I've been under calorie almost every day! That will change this weekend but oh well :-P
I always get my cardio in since I teach Zumba, but I feel like it's a little less challenging for me and I'm burning less calories than I used to. I need to figure out a way to make it harder for me, but still easy for my students! My workout buddies were all busy this week, so no strength training for me. I need to get back on track regardless of people being available to work out! Even 15 minutes is better than nothing!
katespade - I know it's hard! I try to drink a lot of water and chew gum to keep the temptation away! And I will usually allow myself one piece of chocolate through out the day (usually a dark sea salt chocolate square), and I know that's all the chocolate I get. Because I eat dark chocolate, it tends to satiate my need for sweets. So if you're going to splurge - pick the one you really want, and stick with that :-)
Hang in there ladies - we all have bad weeks! And with the weather for some of you, it has to be tough!!! You'll get back on track.
Eating wise, I am working on it. I am measuring and weighing everything. My biggest issue has been my wine/alcohol consumption. I am cutting that back a lot. No more glass or 2 of wine with dinner on my days off. I put a picture of the cruise ship as motivation to not mindlessly eat. I eat when I am bored so hopefully this will stop me from opening the fridge lol. DH and I have been doing really well with drinking water instead of sodas and other sugary drinks.
Exercising wise, I am getting better at that. After a few weeks with a sore knee I had a hard time motivating myself to start again. I'm doing well. I put youtube on my Wii so I can do some free workout videos. I am going to be researching some that target specific areas today. I plan on starting to use my gym membership again soon. With all the bad weather it's been tough to go since it's about a 15-20 minute ride there and I hate driving in the snow. Excuses I know
Im doing pretty well. My eating has been in check but I just need to up my exercise. We have everything you can possibly imagine in our basement but some days I get home and Im just not feeling it. For lent I decided to give up the scale. Its funny how the number that flashes totally determines the outcome of your day. Im healthy, I eat well and exercise and that should be what matters.
It's been an off week, although I am down another pound. I missed my running goal by 3 miles last week (really not my fault since the stroller had a flat tire that made it impossible to run 2 days last week...and I had already taken off one day). I did get 6 miles in (with the jogging stroller) on Sunday so that was a plus.
But, Sunday and Monday I felt a pain that I was concerned might be bone and the warning signs of a stress fracture. Between that and being super busy with my mom I have taken the last two days off. I might run today since it seems to be feeling better but I might also just take one more day easy as a precaution. A stress fracture is really the last thing I need right now...C would really never nap if I couldn't walk him and my half marathon would be very challenging.

katespade, is there a reason why it's at your desk, ie receptionist? Can you move it out of your line of sight? Or maybe pick out 1 or 2 pieces and put them in the office fridge, that way you'd have to get up to get the candy in order to eat it.

Every supervisor on site has a jar of candy on their desk and each of us has a jar in my department, so it's just EVERYWHERE I go and I have no self control. Lol. Moving the jar that is on my desk is a good idea, though. I need to find a place that is outside of my normal walking path, too (I get up and walk around the office quite a bit throughout the day).

Tape oven mitts onto your hands! You won't be able to undo the wrappers then! But it won't help with you actually get work done.
Sorry watching friends reruns today and I was watching the episode where Rachel taped oven mitts to Phoebe and the armed mans hands so they didn't scratch their chicken pox.
I have been avoiding these posts like the plaque lately.
Urg I just have no motivation lately! I will get back on this. Now that the weather should be warming up I'll be outside more and hopefully that will help more.
