We are planning a trip to Mexico this summer. We will most likely be flying into Cancun so somewhere accessible from that airport. We have 2 kids ages 7 & 10. We would like a nice beach that's not too rocky and other kid activities. Thanks for your suggestions!
It's very hot and humid that time of year. We went once in the summer and never again! Oh, and we hated Grand Parnassus. Thankfully, we only stayed there a few nights and spent the rest at Iberostar, which was lovely.
I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way because it isn't my intent. How much time do you want to spend with your boys? The reason I ask is, I went to Dreams Tulum a few years ago and they had an Explorer's Club for kids. www.dreamsresorts.com/tulum/explorers-club Besides dinner time, we barely noticed any kids in the pool or at the beach because they were all in that club. I'm sure there are tons of resorts that offer activities for adults and kids. That is what I would look into. Not saying you need to find one where they watch your kids all day like the above, but in general a resort with a good entertainment staff. I never thought that was a big deal until I went to a resort that actually had a good one.
We stayed at the Paradisus La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen and had a great time. Our kids are a little younger (3 & 6) but they have 3 pools and have a great water playscape in the larger pool for the older kids. They also have a kids club. The beach was very calm when we there too.
I'm SOOOO late to this post, but here I am. Anyhow - we went to Dreams Tulum too. While DS was only 1.5 and too young for the club, the club looked FUN. At one point in the afternoon, the club would traipse past the pool area when they were doing some fun dancing and interactive stuff. The kids all looked to be having fun.
And overall, we really liked the resort.
DH and I have too many other places we want to travel too, but if we had the time and $$, we'd absolutely go back and absolutely take advantage of the kids club.
