Do you use any oils/serums in your face routine? I just added rosehips oil and am thinking of also adding a vitamin C serum to my routine. Have you done this? Any positive results??
No - it moisturizes skin. Sounds like it would, but it's the opposite!
I use a moisturizing lotion with spf already... Would you put the oils on before or after that?
What difference have you noticed using the oil?
Yes so I cleanse, toner, exfoliate and then put on oils/serum and then moisturizer with SPF on top of it all. The Vitamin C serum is supposed to help with wrinkles/anti-aging and rose hip oil basically helps lock moisture in.
I now just use soap and water. Every time I try and add a lotion or serum of some sort I break out.
You may be overly drying your skin out with just soap so it may be overproducing oil to compensate for the over drying. When you add in more products that moisturize your face, your skin may be getting confused.

Oh, and you bet I use serums. They're what I use for the actual effects for my face, if that makes sense.
I use an oil cleanser to remove makeup, a toner (which I used to think was a useless step, until it solved last year's breakout issues), a serum, then my moisturizer to "seal" all the hydration in. I use a vitamin C serum in the mornings, and a sulfur-based serum at night.
What Vitamin C and sulfur based serums do you use? I just ordered a vitamin C one that also had some SA and tea tree to help with acne.
I do use Dove soap though - it has a 1/4 cup of moisturizers in it.
Yeah, I use "craft" soap (for lack of a better term). It's this goat's milk soap that is hand crafted just for your face. My skin has actually never looked better. I don't even wear foundation anymore.
I almost bought into the OCM a few months ago, but I couldn't find any information about what it might do (or not do) to rosacea. Lately though, my skin has been so dry and inflamed I'm thinking about using virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer.

You may have a different experience, but when my skin is dry and feels sore/chapped, coconut oil actually stings I like marajucu oil though! (cheaper under it's "regular" name of passionfruit seed oil than the name Tarte uses)
Almost everything I put on my face stings
The lotions/washes I'm using are hydrating, but I think they're still irritating my skin because my face is always several shades more red than my neck. It's bad enough that I'm starting to consider cutting things from my diet. Except dairy is the first things everyone suggests cutting, and I don't want to give up my cheese
I use the Paula's Choice Resist face oil. I add a few drops to my antioxidant serum and it really helps my skin stay hydrated. I was part of the test panel for it, too.
In terms of vitamin C, I was using the booster from Paula's Choice. I didn't notice a difference so once I used it up I didn't buy more. Everything else I use has tons of antioxidants in it so I figure I'm good.

If you post your routine and products, I can take a look and see if I can offer any suggestions.
Oh! I forgot to list the serum I use. It's Paula's Choice super antioxidant concentrate from the skin recovery line.
I highly recommend Paula's Choice products and a chat with their customer service can help you find some to try. My favorite part is that you can buy sample packets of whatever you want to try.

If something makes me red, it goes.
For real, I recommend the skin consultation with Garden of Wisdom to you, too. I was horribly embarassed to send them a photo of my red, cystic-acne cheek, but I did it, and they were spot-on with their recommendations.
But I did mostly cut dairy this year, and my skin looks really really good.
again with the cutting of the dairy I know I probably need to, but I don't wanna!
tiramisu, I would love some suggestions! My face is red...think high blood pressure red, except I don't have high blood pressure. I have been diagnosed with rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis. Every now and then I'll have a hormonal cystic zit to deal with.
This is my skin care routine:
Since I haven't been working in an office, I haven't been wearing makeup daily - so I usually only wash my face once a day in the shower. I alternate between Clinique's Redness Solution wash and Eucerin's Redness Relief wash. I then also use Ovace+ (a medicated wash for seborrheic dermatitis). After that, I apply a thin layer of Finacea (rosacea treatment cream) to my cheeks and between my eyes. I give that a minute or two to soak in and then moisturize with Clinique's Redness Solutions day cream or Eucerin's Redness Relief night cream. All of this stings.
If I'm going out during the day, I apply Aveeno Redness Relief lotion which has SPF15 protection. If I know I'm going to be in the sun, I wear a higher SPF sunscreen (which makes me break out, so I don't do it often). I try to avoid heat and getting overheated (I've had people ask me in the grocery store in the summer if I'm alright because my face is so bright red).
When I do wear makeup, I use a face wash cloth to remove it at the end of the day, and then moisturize with the Eucerine night cream.
I have tried going on 'diets' to see if I could narrow down what my face might be reacting to, but the only success I've had is realizing anything with salicylic acid is poisonous to me (that on the spot acne treatment stuff?...yeah, that stuff will eat holes into my face). Every toner I've tried dries my skin out. Spicy food, red wine, and gin make my face react.
I've given up the red wine and the gin, but I don't know if I can give up spicy food...or dairy...
I hope you're not sorry you asked I apologize for this being so long. I obsess about my face, and I don't know what to do at this point so any suggestion you can give I'll gladly take!

So actually the person who did my facial said that now they are discovering what really should be used on your face they are finding that even though dove has "1/4 cup of moisturizers" in it that it is actually very drying and has an ingredient that causes acne.
I use a vitamin C serum but I'm not sure if it does much. The aesthetician I saw for my last facial gave me a great analysis of my skin and told me what to use for the sun and heat down here, and how to prepare for aging. I have tiny poors and fine skin which makes for wrinkles as I age. I use the vitamin C as the base layer under moisturizers and eye cream.

I found this, but I don't know anything about this brand: ASDM Beverly Hills. Have you heard of it? It's $20 for this bottle, and I'm really tempted to try it.

I'm a liar!
When my skin gets really dry, I use vitamin E oil. I haven't needed it lately and completely forgot I had it until I was grabbing a bandaid out of the medicine cabinet last night. I don't use it all over my face, just the areas that get flaky, around the eyes and chin for me.
I do use Dove soap though - it has a 1/4 cup of moisturizers in it.

Whaaaa? I'm going to have to stop using this on my back then. I was wondering why I kept getting spots on my otherwise clear back lol.

Yeah that's what the person who did my facial said. I have noticed since I switched to body wash and stopped using dove I have had no acne on my back, shoulders or arms.
