Just so you all know, susan is very much on the ML spreadsheet for saying ridiculous and asshole things before. She has DD the most atrocious example, but there's also a thread that's still around (see bottom of page four). ML and GBCN never forget. link
I vaguely recall that she has said some shitty things on MM too, but I'm too lazy to look back.
The more I think about it, the more I'm appalled that anyone would reduce a woman's entire identity to her decision to stay with a husband who cheated on her. Really, that tells you everything you need to know about her? The fact that she has stood up for women and girls around the world who are even more imprisoned by patriarchal norms than we are in the United States doesn't tell you anything? That she is an advocate for the rights of LGBT people is irrelevant? That she held her own through the Benghazi congressional hearings(which is the kind of thing you really should be angry about if you're so concerned about bullshit designed to score political points and further personal agendas)? That she has carried on despite several decades of heaping piles of shit being thrown at her from all angles? Aside from the current President, I'm hard pressed to think of any American political figure in recent history who has drawn more criticism and outright hatred than Hillary Clinton. Her ability to withstand so much public abuse tells me more about her character than any decision she might make in her marriage. Disagree all you want with her philosophical and policy positions, but to withhold support for her candidacy because she didn't divorce her unfaithful husband is dehumanizing and deliberately obtuse.
A few years ago, one of my friends subscribed to a lecture series that had as one of its speakers a Fox News person. After the lecture, this person was asked what he thought about Hillary Clinton. He said "She is absolutely the toughest person I know. Not the toughest woman, the toughest person, period. She started getting criticized when Clinton was governor of Arkansas--she worked, she made more money than her husband, she had fat legs, she had bad skin, you name it, it was thrown at her. And that has continued for almost every day of her life, and she takes it every day of her life without flinching. Nothing but respect for her as a person. As to her politics, well...." (to laughter).
I voted for her against Obama in the primaries. She obviously didn't get the necessary support then. Since then, after her book was published and in the marketing of that book she said some things that really made me second guess my thinking. She is qualified. I am just not sure I think her attitude after Bengazi and in front of the congressional subcommittee was appropriate. There is a definite change in her attitude about a lot of things. I get a very "if you don't agree you are an idiot" vibe off of her now. I am moderate so there are issues on both sides of the aisle I don't agree with. I don't like being made to feel like an idiot for that. I will decide closer to the election. I like to see who the other candidates are, Republican included, before I decide.
Am I crazy, or does it seem like there is very little buzz from either party about 2016 candidates? Hadn't Obama already declared by this point in 2007?

Examples of "if you don't agree you are an idiot" from HRC?

Honestly? Thank goodness. I don't want campaigning to start yet.

Just barely. He announced 2/10/07. And that was earlier than past announcements.
I think any non-HRC candidates who are considering a run are probably busy trying to privately sew up donors. Because any non-HRC candidate announcing will trigger the Clinton announcement, and then it's going to just be a non-stop spending fest. I would guess that people are probably trying to delay bleeding money.

There isn't a specific quote I can think of off the top of my head. It was a personal feeling I had during her book tour. It was something in her demeanor that said to me that if you had a problem with her politics you were missing some IQ points. Of course I feel this way about a lot of politicians from both sides. When she is questioned about any of her decisions, there is a definite attitude of "why are yo asking me that." See the transcript or video from the Bengazi hearings.

I believe Obama declared in January or February of 2007.
Jeb Bush has his "exploratory committee" of course, which makes it seem like he's running, but not announcing he's running.
I really just don't see many Dems running (Biden, maybe?) because they want as much solidarity behind HRC as possible. And that means that a meaningful Dem won't run again until 2024, since if HRC is the incumbent she will almost certainly run again in 2020, and if an R wins in 2016 he (lol, like it wouldn't be a man) would almost certainly run again in 2020 and incumbents win very often, so them Dems are not likely to put their best candidate forward.
Mrs Clinton replied with a raised voice: "But with all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans - was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they'd go kill some Americans." Thumping the table four times, she added: "What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, senator." m.bbc.com/news/21161346 Image from news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/65472000/jpg/_65472306_65472305.jpg.

Can you give examples of the other politicians you feel this way about?
Have you ever watched a video from another congressional investigation? Who was grilled? How do you think they handled it?

Oh yes, I can totally see why answering a question firmly and with authority is just so inappropriate. She really should have been more respectful of the men pursuing a Fox News conspiracy theory.
Really, she should have pulled a Monica Goodling and played the dumb girl routine. Or better yet, done the completely respectful and not at all ethically disgusting approach taken by Alberto Gonzales.

Condy Rice during all those investigations of Bush's 13 Benghazies of course.

I would say there are a lot of politicians I feel this way about. I thought I was clear on that. I see politicians on both sides who have this particular issue. There is a lack of trust in the constituent that they serve. I guess you all missed the part where I voted for her...

But who? Can you name any of them?
I could but I fear the backlash because most of them have a lot of fans in the other posters on here. I do not need to be talked down to nor educated on issues like I am a child. I will say, I was a Democrat in my youth but as I grow older the Bernie Sanders and the Elizabeth Warren types are just too vehement for me. On the other side I would say Rand Paul. So, there you go.

I feel like you are Katie Couric trying to interview Sarah Palin in August 2008.

Look, you are going to get flamed if you keep making vague references to "other politicians" without providing examples. YThe deal with sexism is that people tend to hate certain qualities in some women that they don't hate in men.
Your examples are pretty weak and seem to be giant stretches - what specifically have these people said that makes you think they treat you like a child? Who are politicians that don't do those things?
Really, I get the sense that you are just naming names so we can get off your back, so I really urge you to give serious consideration to your prejudices. But that's on you.
As much fun as I had in the first world affectation post, I really don't see why we're jumping on flgirl's ass. What many of you see as bad ass, take no prisoners, others see as smug ass, I don't have time for your piddling questions.
One can't always justify the feeling they get from some people, which is why some people either loathe or adore Jennifer Aniston.
just to clarify, I added the quote from HRC because I will never forget it and never vote for her because of it. She wanted the "reason" to go away because she mishandled the situation. She should have given the ambassador more security as he had requested. She and Obama should have never tried to blame this terrorist attack as a bunch of troublemakers looking for trouble. Those 4 people died due to her negligence.

Yes. Susan has given us enough to have fun with. Flgirl appears to be hinting that she's a conservative (or maybe she said it outright? I don't remember) so of course I wouldn't expect her to vote for HRC just for that reason alone. Just like "I'm liberal" is enough of a reason not to vote for Mike Huckabee.
