Is it possible to find a trainer that works out at your gym, but doesn't work FOR your gym? WHen I was trying to cut a ton of weight, I hired a personal trainer that I met outside the gym and but we did my training sessions at the gym-she wasn't employed by the gym itself. THe challenge would probably be in finding someone, but you might be able to establish a longer term relationship that way?

That's surprising that your gym allows this. The gyms I've gone to and worked at had a policy against this, understandably so.

Well it's been like 8 years, so take that with a grain of salt. But is also not a chain gym, so that may contribute? Basically it was like working out with a friend though-she met me there, had a program for me and put me through it, then I left. She was a member at the gym herself. I didn't even think about contracts though-I never signed anything with her-I just paid her per session, basically.
But yeah, regardless not an option for you. That situation stinks though. :-( I'm sorry.
I don't know if this is an option, but #realmitch put all of his trainers (5 of them) on salary so they'd stick around and put all their time and energy into the gym rather than outside endeavors. There has been no turnoverin the past year.
