I know it varies. When I had my first two done they were less than $100 and it was the 90's. I am looking to get this done on my side. How much are they running these days? Thanks!
Depends on the artist and how large you want it. Last spring I got a lotus on my upper back from a fairly well known shop in the area (NYC) and I believe it was $300. PDQ I will delet pic later. Poof. i have a tiny (maybe 2 inches tall) butterfly on my foot and it was about $50 around 7 years ago.
It depends on the place of your body too, I am not sure if your side is considered higher or lower but I would guess probably $250+ for something like that here in Philly

My artist did this for $100 - hence why I guessed low, for my own art. I hope you find an artist you love for a good price, and then come back and show us the finished product!
I have a watercolor bird on my forearm smaller than my hand and it was around $450 two years ago. I second the "it depends so much". Find an artist who's work you appreciate and go from there. Imo price is only a consideration between getting it or not getting it, not a consideration for choosing an artist unless all else is equal which imo would be unusual.
Be prepared for a wait too .... The artist I like has a year wait.
The one on my foot was 275, my tramp stamp was 75.
Yikes, 275 for a foot tat? Is it large? And if it is omg how did you stand the pain!? My foot tat is small and hurt like a bitch! Feet are so sensitive.

Yeah it covers most of my foot, and its a cat so the fur took a long time. It took total 3.5 hours. Honestly, i would never do it again on a foot, that sucker hurt soo much.
ETA picture. thats just after it was done so my foot was still swollen
Lol. I'm wanting a tattoo pretty similar in the same spot. I'm budgeting about $400 since I'm planning on going to one of the best artists I can afford. I figure I don't want to skimp on something I'll have forever.

I totally agree. That's why I'm much more discriminating about the artist now than I was at age 18. I have 4 tattoos and while I don't have a "bad" tattoo, 2 of them are from my younger days and have room for improvement because I was not picky about the artists then.

My first two were so simple and I picked them from what the artist had on their wall :/ I went in knowing what I wanted. I just didn't have the exact design. I've been asking around and there seems to be a good place in town.
