I'm still not liking this. I think it's good to have the state measures in place because the federal requirements could be repealed. This strikes me as something that you do with the Feds, rather than ceding all responsibility.
Is reporting to the state really that onerous if reports are already being made to the Feds? I'm thinking that if we're concerned about efficiency, why not amend it so that the university cab send duplicates of its fed reports but doesn't have to generate new data? Or something like that.

Do any of the people who feel this way have daughters? Or sisters, nieces, female friends, women in their lives that they care about? Because I just don't understand.
I didn't see this before I doubled down on my first rant in the ISIS thread.
So all I have to say here is:
This is the Republican Party of 2015. These are their leaders, their values, their vision for America.
I keep liking your posts.
Seriously, people. This is the message that he thinks will get republicans to vote for him. That's why he's at CPAC and giving speeches. Blah, blah, blah #notallrepublicans, but the people being put forward as potential presidential candidates are complete clowns.

This is a horseshit excuse and he knows it.
Additionally, shame on UW for asking for it. They should be required to report to both the state and federal levels. Their money comes from both places, they should be held responsible by both.

Also, if you really want a smaller federal government, then you need a strong state government. One of the main reasons the federal government steps in with regulations - whether workplace safety regulations or colleges reporting sexual assaults - is because state governments aren't adequately protecting people. So the approach of someone who supports a smaller federal government should be that Wisconsin can adequately deal with the issue of sexual assault on university campuses and doesn't need to report it to the federal government. By taking away the state reporting requirement, you are wholly destroying your ability to seriously argue that states are better at handling these matters.

No. Stop it with this nonsense. It is not necessary to "HAVE" a particular woman in order to understand that women are people and worthy of the same rights and justice as men.
I am not knocking the feds, but knowing how long it can take to get a response from them (for a multitude of reasons) makes me appreciate that the state also has a hand on this. I don't think this is an area where you want the state out of it.

So I went on a whole rant about this to H.
H: You know what your problem is? Me: I used logic? H: You thought.

And how much money could they possibly be saving with this measure? If it's a substantial amount than we have bigger f**king problems.

I understood what cattledogkisses was saying. Of course we sane people know everyone should have equal rights, full stop. But unfortunately, some people (okay, a lot of people) need to actually "have" certain kinds of people in their lives to get this very basic idea - a gay child, a grandchild of color, etc. I hate that, but unfortunately that is the reality in this country and I wish it weren't.
But OTOH, the idea that women aren't worthy of the same rights as men is just mind-boggling in and of itself considering we're 50% of the population. Everyone *does* have a woman in their life!

We reported this piece without full context, and while this piece conveys factual information, omission of that context for that information presents an unfair and misleading picture. "Hey boss, it's way too much work to tell you about all the bad shit that happens under our watch. We'd rather just fill out the federal paperwork, since it's likely to get buried under bigger fish. That OK?"
That's what he approved. Who gives a shit whose idea it was? Frankly, this makes him look worse.

I don't get that. How does the fact that the universities requested the change, saying it was redundant and burdensome, make Walker look worse?
Wouldn't Walker still have access to the info filled out for the Feds? That's got to be public information, no?
