My friend in another department told me that another gal is getting fired. I like her (the one getting fired), think she's nice, and she's a single mom with a bit of a deadbeat ex. I think the reason they're firing her is stupid (she's been out sick a lot recently, but she's OBVIOUSLY not faking, she had a hoarse voice a lot, is coughing and brought in a note from her doctor! Before that, she broke her elbow, just crappy luck, but seriously, not faking!) Other than that, my friend in the department says she's really competent at what she does (something they have had a lot of issues with for other employees in that department). Anywho, I don't have a say in that department. My issue is just that I'm really struggling on not giving her a heads up that I heard a rumour and she might want to start looking now. However, my friend said I wasn't to say anything so I don't feel like I should. But I want to so I'm struggling!
Gah, ok, I know I shouldn't say anything (I just changed the topic from WWSND) so I won't but it seriously sucks!! I remember the time people I thought I considered friends new they were planning on transferring me to another dept when we worked at a different company and they didn't say anything to me and I felt betrayed. This gal and I aren't that friendly though, but BAH. *VENT*

That sounds terrible The best thing you can do is act surprised when she finds out, and offer to be a reference for her. Job hunting is the worst, I feel so bad for her.
That is horrible. I understand not wanting someone that would skip out on work but not when its legitimate just bad luck for someone and things they can't control.
