I'm 39 (and a half!) weeks pregnant, with a horrible cough that makes me throw up. So, not in the best of moods.
I go to the nail salon today and this conversation ensued with another customer.
Bla bla bla small talk about how I'm pregnant...
Her: Oh so its a boy? Me: No, I'm having a girl Her: …. yeah….you are really round Me: Silence Her: You're having a BIG baby! Me: Silence
Thank you so much lady, that is exactly what I want to hear. I KNOW I'm huge m'kay?!?! And baby is measuring right on track, so its just me who is huge, thanksomuch.
It's a good thing I'm not sensitive about my weight because everyone seems to comment on it daily. I've decided in the last couple days, that nice-tongue-biting teabag is gone and bitchy teabag is here to stay. Fuck off people!!
People see a 6 month belly and say "any time now, huh?" so a 9 month belly blows their mind. It's like no one ever had a baby before.
omg, yes! People are like, "you're so big!" and then last week, my boss commented that this was nothing and how huge I'm going to get in the last few weeks. Can all of you just quit talking about how pregnant I look? Jesus.
I'm 39 weeks too, and just got over the cough that had me puking & peeing simultaneously - I FEEL you. The worst.
I recently had a bit of a revolution that is making me feel better about the comments, because they are inescapable at this point. Maybe helpful to you, maybe not at all. But, I realized that women are this hugely pregnant for such a short time, and at this point many are on leave or staying home as much as possible, so people just don't really see women that are super pregnant very often. It makes me feel better to think of it as more of a novelty than me actually being so big, kwim?

Yes, why do people think that just because you're pregnant, the state of your body is open for public discussion?

I should probably be thankful it hasn't happened more, but this woman touched my stomach without asking the other day. I was so shocked, I didn't even respond. She did it as she was walking by me and was gone before I processed what had happened. I am still so very WTF about the whole thing.
My sister was pregnant with twins, at 8 months she looked like she was 8 months pregnant with twins. The TV delivery guy (maybe 22ish), said "Oh, you're not that big." Which worried my sister SO MICH that she wasn't 'that big' that she made an emergency doctor's appointment.
BECAUSE THE TV DELIVERY GUY WAS TRYING TO BE NICE!
No one should say anything to PG women about their shape. Ever.
