I started running recently and I am enjoying it. My shoes are old, so I need to replace them. The shoe choices are a little overwhelming.
I was talking to my boss today about running. We started to talk about shoes and they said that the store he goes to has you run barefoot on a treadmill and will help you pick a shoe based on that. He said it helped with an injury he had.
I am a casual runner, not training for anything more than a 5k now. How much does the shoe matter? Is it worth my time to visit this store?
I think it's 100% worth it, especially if you are buying shoes anyway. It's free, they are often very knowledgable, and why not do what you can to make running as enjoyable and injury-free as possible?

It's a good idea to get fitted whether it's one mile or a million. No need to run in pain or risk injury no matter how long or short the run. And it's free? Definitely do it :-) Good luck. Hope you find great shoes and good luck running!!
1000 times yes! Shoes make all the difference, and it's worth it to make sure you are getting the right type of shoe. Good luck with your running and have fun!
Yes! Someone here (i cant remember who, sorry!) once said proper shoe fitting is an investment in injury prevention. You can injure yourself running 3 miles!#

yes! The first time I got fitted I learned so much. I continue to switch up the shoes to find the "perfect pair" but I at least know what I need to look for now when buying.
