My Chi, may she rest in peace, has straightened her last hair. This was my 3rd Chi, and it lasted about 4 years. We had a good go of it, but now i need to find someone else.
I have a shit ton of thick hair, so i need something durable. Any suggestions that aren't crazy expensive?

I really like my Sedu. It was 115 or so? I've had it for quite awhile. They had a faulty design for a little while, but I got mine replaced after the warranty was up (+ customer service experience) and the replacement was different- they clearly fixed the design flaw. That was about 5 years ago and it's still going strong.

I'm following this thread as well because mine died this morning. I had that solia one and it lasted almost 4 years. I liked it and would repurchase it again if I don't find something else.
Sedu, hands down. Doesn't matter how much they cost, I find myself having to replace them about every 18-24 months. Sedu is the only one that I've bought multiple times.

I know all hair types will be different...my own hair is thin but there is a lot of it and honestly I have whatever was nearly the cheapest at Target like 7 years ago, and it has always worked fine and still works fine to this day. I cant think off the top of my head what it is, probably Conair or something. I used my friend's Chi before and it worked well but its not like it blew me away compared to mine or anything. #cheapforthewine
ETA meant to say #cheapforthewin, but wine works too. I'm not picky with wine, either. :-)

I have thick, curly, frizzy hair. I had a Chi for years and liked it. But hands down the best flat iron is FHI. I actually bought my latest one at Target for $80.

Yes, I just tossed my third Sedu (in maybe, 6 years?) after it died. They don't last long.
OP, I just purchased this one for $50 on Amazon, it's pretty good!
I have a Sedu and love it! I have thick, curly/frizzy hair that's down to my mid-back and it takes about 20 minutes to straighten. My current Sedu iron is going on four years old and I've not had any problems with it.
Another Sedu vote. I'll probably cry when it dies and then buy a new one. It's almost 7 years old and still working fabulously. I'd say that I used it daily for about 5 years, though a pixie cut and now long hair. I took a year-long break for a curly phase. And the curly phase changed how I wash my hair, so I've only used it a couple times each week for the past year or so.
I love it so much that I bought one of their hair dryers, which is also pretty much on the same schedule but a year behind. Love it even more!
I had this issue a few months ago and researched the crap out of all of the above suggestions after my chi died. I went with a bio ionic one pass which I love a lot more than my chi.

I'll second this. I've had my FHI for 8 years, and it's still going strong. I think mine is from the Platform series.

I ended up just ordering Nume megastar for 96 off with the coupon code frosty. I was close to ordering the sedu, but for the price, i couldnt pass this up.
