If you were to redo the trim in your house would you make it, light maple, dark espresso or white? If you were to redo the floors as well, but color laminate wood would you choose?
We want to do espresso colored trim and cabinents, but I am at a loss for the floors. Dark wood floors seem too dark. The counter tops will be light fwiw.
We have white trim and I really like it. We have dark wood floor that are gorgeous when they are clean but show every foot print, dust and crumb. I spend a lot of time staring at spots. I do not love those but I don't know what else I would like. I am no help, I am constantly redoing my house in my mind and I am all over the place.

Dark floors are a beast to keep looking good says my bff. My house is a 50s house and has the honey toned trim and floors of the time period. I really like them so I'd vote light maple. I feel like the espresso finishes are very modern but more likely to feel dated in 5 years. Trim I'd do maple or white depending on your tastes in décor. If you lean casual, shabby, or country, then white might be good. Otherwise, I prefer a wood finish.
We have dark cabinets, a medium to dark wood floor and white trim. I really love the combo. I am drawn to white cabinets more and more lately, so I would like to try those when we move in a few years. Our counters are New Venetian Gold granite, which is a cream base with flecks of gold, espresso, and a little purple here and there. I really like it as it is light against the darker wood cabinets, yet the slight color contrast hides the crumbs. The darker floors are harder to keep clean, but beautiful when they are. The area it bothers me the most is obviously under the dining room table, but otherwise I can usually get away with vacuuming every few days.
I am not a huge fan of stained wood trim in houses unless it is architecturally appropriate (like in older homes, craftsman style, etc.), but that is just a personal preference.
White trim and medium to light floors. Dark wood floors look pretty, but IMO they can make the space look dark. A lighter colour brightens things up and makes rooms look more spacious.

Ditto the white trim and for the love of god don't do dark floors. We chose dark wood floors because there's a dark wood beam through my living room but they are just the worst and always look dirty even when they're clean.
We did dark espresso floors and white trim. Although it looks amazing while clean, it is not easy to keep clean with pets and kids. If I were to do it again, it would be a more medium toned wood.
In your house I'd do expresso trim with a light floor or white with a dark. Google images of dark trim with light floors. Some gorgeous stuff out there.

I like white trim with dark floors, but as others have said, they are difficult to keep clean. Also, if you have dark cabinets then I would go lighter on the floors.

We are really leaking dark trim and cabinets. It's good to hear light floors can work with that. Our house is a 3 level split, about 25 years old and I'd like to redo with some craftsman/shaker finishes. I'm trying to convince dh it's worth doing rather than moving.
