Our salaries are fairly close, but DH gets a nice bonus from his employer each year. Working for the government, I get no bonus, which puts him a good bit in front of me in total compensation.
I make more than H and we have 1 kid. Random thought: I think a few times I've assumed a husband made more money (because of fancy title or business owner) and then found out the wife makes more. The most shocking was a hairdresser working 3 days a week made more than her H who owns a landscaping company.

H made 2x what I made last year but his income is very much commission driven. His base went up $20k this year so it's now just below my income. Commissions this year could potentially be much lower than last year (or, much higher. Who knows!)
