I'm really really bored of plain black coffee. I like the taste but I want more depth... or something. With no calories, fat, or artificial crap And I don't prefer anything that's sweet.
I'm super basic/simple when it comes to coffee and honestly, when I go to coffee shops (like if I'm traveling) I just order a black coffee. I was given a pretty hefty SB gift card (from someone who doesn't know me very well, lol) and I went yesterday. I had to google low fat/calorie SB drinks. I decided to try an Americano. and it was heaven!!!!!!!!!! And now I need to figure out how to quickly make one at home in the mornings.
We currently have a Keurig, which I honestly loathe. We use a refillable k-cup but I think the coffee is crap. Hubby loves it :/
I'm super intrigued by this AeroPress. Seems simple enough. Does anyone have one? Or any other recs for a delicious cup of coffee?
love it! like it better than the moka pot as it has a filter so you don't get any grounds in it. mh has mastered the reverse aeropress, too, which makes an even better shot of espresso. from there, we usually make americanos or lattes, both hot & iced.
we have a french press, hario pour over, and i have a chemex at work, and i like the aeropress the best. best balance of convenience/less mess with good coffee.
also, we use good beans, freshly roasted locally, and grind them fresh using a ceramic burr grinder. all that really does make a difference. mh went from being a sbux gold member about a year ago to drinking coffee at home or at one of our more "serious" (aka hipster) joints.

My brother is a black coffee aficionado and he uses a Aeropress at home to make his coffee; he loves it. (I only drink iced coffee with cream and sugar.)

I just got DH this grinder and he's been quite happy with it, though it does take some work / time to use it since it's manual. It's really cheap and is ceramic burr. It's small and fits the size of the aeropress opening.
I borrowed an aeropress for a week and loved it. The people I borrowed from made me a cup to show me how to use it and their cup was way better than mine (because they grind their own and buy beans that have been roasted very recently). But I still loved it. I usually use a french press and I do still love that. But the aeropress was so easy to clean and so fast. I used it for my afternoon coffee all week that I had it.
DH has an automatic espresso machine, french press, and aero press. He uses all three at various times depending on his mood. He does really like the aero press though and it's very simple to use. He has a burr grinder and only grinds coffee when he wants it. You'll get much better flavor that way. I have the Breville tea maker, which doubles as an electric kettle, so he uses that to heat the water.
