You're in good company. Apparently Jessica Biel and Justin Tomberlake are moving to MT to raise their daughter too!
We have a handful of celebrities who come here to get away... The Dude (Jeff Bridges), Letterman, Brokaw, John Lithgow, Phil Jackson, Batman (Michael Keaton), Ted Turner, Huey Lewis, I know there are more, but I can't think of them. Now @roseyposey is moving here to "get away."
King of the Hill told me that Henry Winkler has a place in Montana.
I'd love to do a long trip in this part of the country someday
Yaaassss! We might actually have a Montana get together! @idaholakelady downtoearth-that's your area too right?
ARE WE MAKING THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE I'M EXCITED!!!
*Lurker Bozemanite (but Griz fan @rennido ) checking in* I'll try to post more and get to know you guys.
To OP and others interested in MT Vaca, everyone has given you great ideas. I def. concur with Chico rec- the rooms are a bit rustic, but the food and atmosphere is awesome.
I'm in charge of a mini family reunion in Montana in August. We just booked a large cabin near Missoula.
This was supposed to be a hiking trip for my brothers and H and I and then a bunch of elderly family members asked to join (as in most of the people will be over 60 and there will be more 90 somethings than 30 somethings). Given that mix and the general fitness of this crowd we'll be lucky to get in 1-2 short hikes.
So...now I'm thinking of adding a few days somewhere else where we can actually do some hiking--either in Glacier or maybe in northern ID. Ideally we'd stay in a bed and breakfast in a cute down with good/food beer no more than 1 hours drive from some good hikes. Ideas? We'd be open to flying home from another city but probably don't want to drive more than 4-5 hours.
Priest Lake in norther IDAHO is about a 4 hour drive from Missoula, and has access to AMAZING hiking in a state forest. It is breathtakingly beautiful.
Edited to add, I have no idea why IDAHO auto-capitalizes on my phone. Lol!

There is a lot you can do near Missoula, while I love Priest Lake (family cabin just sold there last year), with elderly family members I'd stay closer. Let me get on a real computer and I can send some great links to you.
@mx, if you're sans the Olds, Priest Lake would be a great destination. While it's not the lake that inspired my user name, it is amazing and has incredible access to hiking. I would be jealous!
@mx, also: you must read The Big Burn before spending time in the Lolo National Forest. Other cool things in the are would be the a Route of the Hiawatha bike ride.

We're totally starting a Montana MM colony. Why do ibhavevthe feeling that drinks with everyone would NOT be MM-wise? ;-)
