"We should get a hummingbird feeder".
(heart)
We are watching a nature documentary and they showed some butterflies mating while sitting on lantana, and I commented that I plant lantana every year because bugs like it, and how I try to attract bugs every year with delicious flowers.
People sometimes plant food for themselves, but not for bugs. Nobody thinks about butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds needing food, and there is not nearly enough.
We have seen hummingbirds in our garden. They burn huge numbers of calories looking for food. Even my well-planned garden is not enough.
Well, then he made the hummingbird feeder comment. I'm feeling hopeful for spring.

Aww. How sweet! We have tons of peonies that attract ants and bees and thankfully, I'm too lazy to get rid of them (well, all of them - we had to remove about 10 of them to put up a shed, but I think I have at least that many more!) so the ants and bees are well fed at my house. We had a huge honeysuckle plant that had to be removed for the shed and I was sad, but it was overgrown and partially dead due to the heat and the lack of water the last few years, it was for the best.
