- Everyone has an opinion about everything. Learning to take opinions with a grain of salt early on will save you lots of stress. - Sleep as you know it is gone waaaaaay before giving birth. I wish I would've known that so I could've been more cognizant of blissful slumber back in the day. - Heartburn is real. And evil. Don't hold off on the zantac - it's a godsend. - And speaking of godsends - find a good prenatal masseuse (with a proper table made for pregnant ladies) and treat yourself as often as you are able. And don't scoff at the prenatal chiropractor, either. I snubbed my nose for too long and my hips suffered unnecessarily.
* Re: shaving - I've actually got it down to an art…thanks to the anti-fog mirror H found me for the shower. First couple of times were rough, but it's all good now .
Yes to peeing in the cup. I know you're not supposed to have it touch you, but that's the only way I could get it in the right general area, haha.
I never knew how much people would have to say about everything. How big/small I was, that I should or shouldn't find out the sex, what to and not to name him, to have a natural birth or not (yeah big fat no to that one, I couldn't imagine having to feel that tear I had!), etc. Some people have good advice but for the most part I wanted to tell everyone to shut up because pregnancy also made me lose all patience!
krystee TMI but my mucus plug wasn't a clear gob of mucus. Mine was dark red and I lost most of it when I got home from work but there were still bits of it even while I was laboring at the hospital. The only way I can describe it is that it almost looked like a clump of hair, lol. Mine was probably dark red though because I was in early labor already.
How are you and the baby doing?
Good! It was rough at first because I have barely any milk and he wouldn't latch, then he also had to go in to get his foot poked multiple times because he was a little jaundiced. Other than those things he's been such a good baby and I hope it stays that way!
Yay, estrellita! Glad to hear that. Were there any effects on the baby from GD? I'm happy to be seeing the light at the end of that tunnel!
No, his blood sugars were good! I did read somewhere though that there might be a correlation between GD and not being able to BF but I haven't looked into it much and I don't think there's a lot of research on it. Might be why I haven't been able to but who knows. I'll have to find some more research on it!

YAY about his blood sugars! That's fantastic.
I haven't heard that about GD and BFing. Fwiw, the OB I consulted with last week said that there are very few studies on women with *only* GD -- that people tend to lump GD in with people who have "overt diabetes," which isn't really giving good data on women who are only dealing with GD b/c of pregnancy.

Hopefully you won't have any lingering issues!
That's a good point, I wonder what the correlation is for GD vs people that have diabetes outside of pregnancy. I hope there are no lingering effects either because it's been nice to not worry so much about what I'm eating for now! Haha. At the hospital I was ordering pasta and french toast for my meals... yummy!

I haven't seen much of a correlation in my work. Some GD babies eat very well, some don't. Just like any other baby.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It was about not having milk (I have pretty much nothing when I pump), not the baby eating. I also have other issues and needed a shield for him to even latch, so that is definitely part of why it's been difficult, but that doesn't explain why there is no milk.

1. My nipples are dry and cracked. 2. I have heartburn when I get hungry, which basically means all the time. I'm popping tums like candy. 3. Feeling the baby move is awesome! 4. I'm constipated pretty much all the time and taking Colace 2x/day isn't helping. 5. Choosing a name is a lot harder than I thought it would be. 6. Crotch pain sucks! 7. Sleeping is getting more and more difficult, minus the fact that I have to get up and pee. Now my mind won't turn off and each time I wake up, I am horribly thirsty. I have to remind myself to keep water on my nightstand. 8. "Pregnancy brain" is a real thing. I don't think I've ever been this absent-minded. 9. Getting around is getting harder. I find myself plotting out my routes so I don't have to walk as far as I used to. 10. I'll admit I like the attention I'm getting. Number one question people have asked me is "how are you feeling?"
I completely agree about peeing in a cup and wiping. UGH!! Someone mentioned doing a perineal massage to prevent tearing and I'm like... I can barely wipe my butt! I have to stand up and contort to reach properly..
I'm due for a trimming... I'm sure it will look uneven because I don't plan on using a mirror. Screw it! Maybe I'll have my H look at it so it isn't terrible!
Maybe one of the biggest ones is DON"T SHARE your baby name with people before birth (except online, ha). We did so and got some bad responses, so we actually changed it. Now we aren't telling anyone our new name - though we are pretty sure, who knows if we may change it when we see him.
Also... krystee I admit I googled mucus plug just because I was curious.. yuck!!!
