My new baby (4 weeks now, born 3 weeks early) has three modes -- eat, sleep, scream. I'm starting to wonder if I'm not feeding her enough because she is in scream most of the time. I think she would be on my boob 24/7 if she could.
I wouldn't say it's normal but it's not uncommon. And if she's hungry let her eat. There's biological reasons for both her and you to want to nurse constantly. Not to mention she's probably having a growth spurt and legit hungry.

With DS2, I felt like he didn't have any happy awake time until he hit 6 weeks. It's so hard, but usually normal as long as baby is gaining fine and etc. We tried gas drops and probiotics for newborn fussiness also, and I wore him constantly.

Thank you for all of the advice! We've struggled so much with nursing and it seemed to be getting better, but I'll start following with a bottle just to be sure. I don't want to starve the poor thing!
We did a bottle "chaser" early on with DD and it helped. She rarely took more than an oz and I want to say within about 10 days we were back to just nursing.
