Years ago I had a costco membership but recently a friend of mine bought me a membership as a gift. We are vegetarians so besides meat, what are your favorite things to grab there. Do you grab it there out of convenience or do you find that the prices are actually better than other stores including amazon?
Most of the stuff we buy there is because it is actually cheaper.
Toilet Paper Paper Towels Garbage Bags Zip Lock Bags Vitamin Water Paper Plates Napkins Spices Creamers Coffee Protein Bars & Shakes Soap Laundry Detergent Dishwasher Detergent I'm sure there is more that I'm forgetting
And then of course there is all that stuff in the middle of the store that I never knew I needed but have to buy at that very moment
olive oil maple syrup dishwasher detergent tabs organic bread (2 loaves in a bag) that is SOO good bagels uncooked tortillas Irish Spring bar soap (for my husband) deodorant dental floss clementine oranges 2 lb containers of strawberries
I just started eating meat recently but have gotten some good vegetarian organic potstickers there. Hummus and wholly guacamole are sometimes priced well there too. I think they have some vegetarian options in their fridge section too. Their bananas and avocados are a good price too.
Quinoa Frozen fruit Spinach Shredded cheese Dog food String cheese Organic eggs Granola bars Baby kale Trash bags Laundry detergent Craisins
These things are all generally cheaper than the regular grocery store. I don't really buy toiletries there because you can usually get them cheaper elsewhere with sales/coupons.
During the summer months I have my own garden, but during off season - their prices and pick of organic veggies/fruit is worth it. All organic: tomatoes carrots spinach apples lettuce/romaine cukes berries(frozen and fresh) green beans (frozen) mixed veggies (frozen)
Plus Organic shells/cheese olive oil bread batteries dog food spices soups olives chick peas Gas tires dog prescriptions - our heartworm med for the dog is about 1/4 of the price for the year compared to the vet. I think we paid $65 for a years worth (big dog) eye glasses/exams - $49 for an exam!!
If the prices aren't the cheapest, they are close to it. I figure I save time and gas by buying in bulk and having to get groceries less frequently
milk canned beans chia seeds pretzel rolls sliced bread dog food I buy most of our fruit there baby kale salad mix laundry detergent garbage bags K cups toilet paper frozen veggie burger patties tofu ravioli bath towels and bedding lightbulbs tub of peanuts Uncrustables Better than bouillon rice
MH bought us a membership as a birthday gift to me because I kept talking about it. But honestly I don't think the prices are any better than Shop Rite, especially for meat and produce, so I probably won't renew it.
I buy chocolate chips for baking, honey, cheese, crackers, cakes and frozen appetizers for parties, bathroom wipes, bacon. Certain clothes and socks.
Gas is a good price, but since NJ is full service (the attendant scans his own card before filling my tank) they do not require a membership card. I had been using their gas station for a couple years prior to getting the membership.

That's what I was wondering. With sales/coupons would Rather be cheaper etc
black beans Rotel 10lb bags of flour Laughing Cow BabyBel cheeses (MUCH cheaper than other stores) Fitz's bottled root beer Dishwasher detergent (Cascade tabs) contact solution allergy meds peanut butter tank tops socks blue box mac & cheese Nesquick
It's not convenience-we only go once a month or every 6 weeks. I feel like we get more bang for our buck, and I like buying some things in bulk so I don't have to grab black beans every time I go to the grocery store or whatever.
FETA! It's so much cheaper, and is the basis for my favorite no meat meal. Also, everything else everyone is saying. I love the olive oil. I always buy a thing of grape tomatoes to eat on the way home (I always get sick). Cottage cheese. I buy lots of workout clothes there and I buy MH dress shirts sometimes. They look exactly like his Brooks Brothers shirts for 1/3 the price!
I loooooove you Costco. They treat their workers well, have a good corporate ethic, etc.
This is so true. I had to buy feta at the grocery store a couple weeks ago and an 8 ounce container was the same price as the pound (or so) I get at Costco. I was SHOCKED at the price difference.
