I'm back, wake up 2 and he's hungry. Only two hours. I can't get him to nurse thoroughly during the day. I need to talk with his pedi about reverse cycling Thursday.
Technically wake up 1 since I've been asleep but I didn't go to bed until like midnight, haha. Currently pumping. I started taking fenugreek and brewers yeast hoping that will help. I am going to do everything I possibly can and I really hope this increases my supply to at least be able to cut back on formula. Otherwise idk what else to do. My friend was telling me about donated milk and I may look into that. I'm not sure if it's the route we want to go, but if it's free or cheap it might be worth it.
Someone needs to invent a pacifier locating device. 4am and I was on my hands and knees searching all over for the paci that fell off my bed. DS was almost asleep and woke back up due that, so we had to start all over again once I found it. It's 5:25 and we're still up!!!
The dogs needed to go outside which woke up the girls. They are now screaming and demanding to watch "let it go". Hope they give up soon/ C has the most shrill, heartbreaking cry/scream.
E has been up since 4 am. He is currently playing with a blanket in his crib. I'm not getting him until he cries but that doesn't mean I'm sleeping. Eff 18 month sleep regression
We got a good stretch first thing, but then up at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. We have a two hour delay for work but I was pretty much up for the day at 5. Of course DS is sleeping again now.
Wakeup 1. Hoping he feeds and goes back to sleep. Depending on how long it takes I will either get up or go to sleep.
Wwyd...C is sleeping longer stretches now 10.5 last night, 9 tonight). I was getting up to pump mainly for BC purposes but haven't the past two nights. I'm kind of feeling like not doing it to get some sleep, mainly because we're not having sex anyways (1x at 6 wks...I've tried but DH isn't interested). Do I need to pump fir my supply though? I pumped at 8 hrs yesterday and went 9 hrs today. I tend to have oversupply issues too.

I wouldn't wake up to pump. Your supply will adjust to your baby's eating schedule. Also, I think you need to nurse/pump every 3 hours round the clock for breastfeeding to be effective birth control, and no way would that be worth it to me if you have a baby who sleeps well.
It's still technically middle of the night since I plan to go back to bed.. hehe. H goes back to work today although that means he's working from home. So I'll be sorta on my own but he will be here if I need him. But it means nights will be long for me because I'm going to do most of the feeding then pumping so he can get sleep. I'm fine with that. He did change E's diaper while I went to the bathroom before feeding him, so he's definitely still helping with motn stuff!

I would try to stop the middle of the night pumps. It will only increase the oversupply issue.

I'm impressed with his sleep! Hopefully that continues.
I've always heard to skip pumping if baby sleeps. I'm guessing he'll eat more during the day to make up for it. If you don't have a problem with supply I don't think it'll hurt. I tend to wake at 2 am before the babies even get up and I wake them since I pump. My supply is barely hanging on though.
How often are you pumping overnight? Are you EPing? What is your ounce per day total?
I was only pumping once overnight (and only if he was sleeping for longer than 5 hrs); otherwise, he was up 1-2x and feeding every couple hours so it wasn't an issue.
nessness- I read on planned parenthood that you could have a 6 hour stretch at night and 4 hour stretches during the day. 5-6 hrs of sleep is definitely manageable but just not sure how worth it it is (if we were having sex more I would be way more committed). Also, this is only for the first 6 months, so another 2 1/2 months. I agree though...I would much rather sleep and I don't need the extra milk for supply issues. Maybe I'll go with the "if I'm awake, I'll pump; if not, NBD"
@astrid, I think I remember that you were concerned about overfeeding so absolutely ignore this if you want, but have you considered using faster flow nipples at night?
DS is sleeping well at the beginning of the night but after 4am or so he turns into a really light sleeper and has been getting up a lot. Cue arguing between H and I, and it makes for some pretty crappy mornings. And I'm still tired although I feel bad complaining because his first stretch was 4.5hrs last night.
((hugs)) Poppy! I'm sorry your DS isn't sleeping well after the first stretch and causing your DH to argue I hate when the day starts off that way. Also, don't feel bad about complaining...C is sleeping way more than that and I still feel tired (and your DS is older than C). I think the early weeks just take a ton out of us...plus all the energy to feed, take care of, and do other life things...I have a feeling that being tired is just how it's going to be for awhile, unfortunately. Hang in there- you're doing great mama!
